The Differences Between ESV and the King James Version
The ESV is a formal equivalence translation that tries to do the things we've been talking about. But also the King James was durable English at last, so it wasn't very quirky. I think we read it today and it feels very foreign. It feels very not like normal English. Some people say it's great because it gives an otherness to the Bible. And some people talk about the dignity and grandeur and that sort of thing.
