Did the Union Change the Future of the World?
In 17 o seven, the act of union came in, which united the kingdoms of england and scotland. What effect did this have on the jacobites? The union had very little effect on irish or english jacobitism, but it massively increased support for scottish jacobism. So i think we could say the union is the key driver of popular and, to some extent, of elite jacobitic,. followed by pragmatic and pragmatic, dynastic and simply considerations of personal personal bankruptcy, adventurism or opportunism.
