The Reverse Repo Market

The reverse repo market exists to accommodate transactions between entities that have a lot of cash at disposal, but don't want to take overnight unsecured risk at a bank. Money market funds are just one of the many institutions out there that have normal excess demand for US collateral for T-bills. The key to this is understanding that in essence, the money that's gone into the reverse repo has already been withdrawn from the system.
