George Thomas Staunton's Friends Get Into Trouble

In 1816, George Thomas Staunton is interpreting at the next British Embassy in China. His friends are getting into trouble and one of them puts a kind of stocks outside their offices. The Chinese state does not like this - they wouldn't like it now or then. They try to control the people who are dealing too closely with the British.
