The way that trauma is experienced in our body is different for everybody. For some people, the most traumatic event of their life is when their dog died. When I choose to forgive, not only do they not have my power any longer, but I can choose an interpretation that's going to forward me. So perspective is perspective as someone who has experienced sexual trauma, not just once, but twice. My joy was robbed for me at the pinnacle of my fitness. And on the other side of that, I made my body so wrong from having sex and binge eating and putting on actual weight again because it gave me a wake-up call about what had happened before.
