iran iraq war which we've touched on a few times inevitably already began with iraq's invasion of iran in september 1980 just over a year after the revolution. What factors led to this war which lasted nearly eight years and killed hundreds of thousands of people? How did such a brutal war dominate the first decade of the islamic republic and obviously traumatizing iranian society how did that shape the republic's trajectory so i mean as i said i think it does go back to certain disagreements which some conflicts had pre-existed the revolution.
