The phrase of guns or butter is a sort of pick, pick one or the other that you want. Guns can kill and take over land, but butter is what actually makes people happy. I view money as the guns in this analogy. Money's the thing that gives you the ability to go for things you want. And yet, warer there are times when you take the paying job all the time.
