The Prison Massacres of 1988
The 1988 prison massacres are important enough to dwell on as S-Kandad line outlined upwards of four or five thousand people were likely killed. The evidence that we do have about the prison massacre is drawn largely from those former prisoners who were eventually released because some were not killed and were eventually released. There's a lot of research that still needs to be done on exactly what happened but I want to note that Montazadi was falling out with Khomeini and with the sort of loyal cadres of the IRP starts a little bit earlier than even 1988.
