People don't realize that the diaphragm is. a passageway for your esophagus to get food into your stomach. For many people, especially high stress individuals, the ribs tend to be stuck up and not in an inhale. This creates problems with emotional regulation if we take it into movement mechanics. The Pilates Industries made the transverse abdominis very famous. Right? It's like the bodybuilders made the rectus famous. And I try to make the obliques famous because I like them.
