The Comaneyist Left and the 1988 Prisoner Massacre

The 1988 prisoner massacre was the last in a series of moves from the U.S. embassy occupation through the prolongation of the war with Iraq that Comaney's camp had used to consolidate power and repress their opponents. Among those marginalized was Grand Ayatollah Hussein Ali Mantizari, who had been groomed to be Comaney's successor as Supreme Leader. In our fifth anti-promise last episode of this series, we will pick up with Muhammad Khatami's 1997 election to the presidency - which would soon find itself deeply frustrated by repression.
