As a child of the 80s, I didn't really need to look at the sugar because that was it for me. So much of our consumption tends to be around packets of food. The manufacturers understand that we need convenience and we need easy. And so they will add these ingredients. There's so many different words for sugar as well. It'll be hidden as anything ending in o's or dextrose or maltadextrose. They can legitimately put on their labelling and you're looking at it going, "I'm not quite sure what that is" Pauline started working as a physio when she realised she had an incredibly sweet tooth.
