A Periodontist Discusses Gum Disease and Its Prevention
In this Living to 100 Club podcast, we invite Dr. William Levine to discuss the incidence of gum disease, its causes, and treatments. Dr. Levine has practiced the specialty of periodontic dentistry for over 35 years. He has been at the forefront of revolutionizing the way we treat and manage disease. Prostate Cancer Awareness: What We Need to Know

WellBe Senior Medical: Re-inventing At-home Care
This Living to 100 Club podcast introduces our listeners to an innovative home-based medical care program, WellBe Senior Medical. Our guest is Dr. Iyad Houshan. We discuss the benefits of at-home medical care with older adults who are faced with multiple and complex health challenges. Our listeners will learn about the “full risk” model of reimbursement, vs. the traditional fee-for-service model. We understand how this incentivizes WellBe to provide a comprehensive, holistic services program. We also learn how this comprehensive care model reduces the need for frequent acute hospital or skilled nursing re-admissions. It also avoids the problems with home health services that too often become fragmented and ineffective at avoiding re-admissions. This is another highly educational conversation for our listeners as we explore a breakthrough care model for the most-frail seniors in our communities.

Dr. Iyad Houshan is the Chief Medical Officer at WellBe Senior Medical. Prior to joining WellBe, he served as the Senior Medical Officer at Alignment Healthcare from January 2017 to June 2019. In this role, he was responsible for managing the clinical program at an innovative Medicare Advantage provider. This provider offers an integrated clinical model, proactive healthcare, advanced technologies, and alliances with major health care partners. Iyad also structured the home-based program designed for optimal revenue and clinical / hospice outcomes.
Dr. Houshan has been recognized for his strong patient and family satisfaction skills, which he has used to set the stage for improvements in hospice metrics and drop in unnecessary resource utilization. Iyad Houshan began his educational career by obtaining a B.S. in Chemistry from UC San Diego. Iyad then went on to obtain an M.D. from Ross University School of Medicine. After completing his medical degree, he pursued a career in general education and obtained a position at San Diego Miramar College. Iyad later went on to complete an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Nevada, Reno.

A Senior Living Community becomes the First “City of Longevity” in the U.S.
This podcast introduces us to the groundbreaking City of Longevity, located at The Overlook Senior Living Community in Charlton, Massachusetts. We have two guests today: Tameryn Campbell, President and CEO at The Overlook. Our second guest is Lynne Corner, Deputy Director at the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing (NICA). We learn about the concept of NICA’s Cities of Longevity. These communities actively support all ages, healthier lifestyles for all, as well as the programs, experiences, and public policy that fosters aging well. NICA has implemented these cities in seven countries and the Overlook is the 1st in the U.S. The Overlook was selected as the City of Longevity site because of its rich, 100-year history providing a continuum of care and services for Massachusetts residents and their families. This is a very worthwhile, educational conversation that can serve as a springboard for other communities seeking this designation.

Professor Lynne Corner (picture, upper right) is Deputy Director at the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing (NICA) and Director of VOICE. VOICE is an international community established to harness the immense experience, skills and insights of the public. These are people of all ages and backgrounds, especially including older people. VOICE members work with research and businesses to identify unmet needs, priorities and aspirations. They help co- develop products and services that are needed to support healthy, happy longer lives. Lynne has a particular interest in horizon scanning for innovation, in lifelong learning and cross generational exchange, and the use of artificial intelligence and data. NCIA and VOICE work with businesses from all sectors to help develop their strategies for capitalizing on the immense commercial opportunities for growth from global population ageing. She is also a Trustee of the Lewy Body Dementia Society.
Tameryn Campbell (picture, lower left) brings more than 25 years of experience and a proven track record of success in the senior living and aging services industry. Since 2014, Ms. Campbell has worked in a strategic and consultative role. This is in the role of President & CEO of Masonic Health System of Massachusetts. Ms. Campbell’s responsibilities include the right-sizing and repositioning of the organization, overseeing divestitures of certain business lines, redefining business strategy. She leads Residents, Team Members, Boards of Directors, lenders and other stakeholders through organizational transformation.

The Movement Against “Gender Ageism” and for the Ascendancy of Women

Dr. Hart earned her Ph.D. at Northwestern University and then taught at Queens College in New York City. She also was head of HR at the research center in the UK. After Pfizer, she founded Hartcom, a management consulting company. She also became Executive Director of the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology. This is an advanced research and advocacy group increasing the impact of women on all aspects of technology. She also served as an Executive Director with Association Management Solutions which provides forum management services to some the most innovative technology associations. Sara received formal coaching training at the prestigious Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara. She and is one of only two certified Thinking Environment™ instructors in the United States.

Dr. Michael Howard is a clinical neuropsychologist, rehabilitation psychologist, and health psychologist. He is an internationally recognized researcher and speaker on aging and longevity. He presents on brain-behavior relationships, traumatic brain injury and concussion, dementia, stroke, addiction, and rehabilitation. During his 30-year career, Dr. Howard has had appointments to the psychiatry, neurology, and rehabilitation medicine faculties of three medical schools. He headed neuropsychology and behavioral medicine departments, and directed programs for treating brain injury, dementia, addiction, psychiatric disorders, chronic pain, and other disabilities. Dr. Howard is the author of the book Living To Be 100. Our guest currently resides in Texas and is a consultant lecturer, author, and researcher for the Academy of Biotechnology, Institute for Natural Resources, and Biomed General Corporation.
