RHP#108. Lisa Betts-LaCroix, Speaker, Dance Performer, Artful Ager, and Host of Super Power U Podcast

Writer. Speaker. Dance Performer. Empowered Phoenix. Entrepreneur. Independent and Community Learning Advocate. Artful Ager. Silver Fox. Host of Super Power U Podcast. It's not until you leave school that you actually realise how freakin' awesome it is. It's also not something to be taken for granted. There are children in the world who never get to experience the luxury of education, and would do absolutely anything to be able to afford a school uniform so that they are allowed to attend school. Our Podcast guest this week, Lisa Betts-LaCroix, is a huge advocate for empowered living and independent and community-based learning. Lisa was born in Canada, and grew up into a highly community-orientated and performance-oriented family. She identifies as mixed race, having a rather eclectic heritage of Japanese and French Canadian ancestors. Lisa was a theatrical girl, and remembers going to the theatre school with her dad and a deposit cheque in her hand ready to join. Her fear and limiting beliefs forced her to tear up the cheque and drive off....The irony is that she left traditional university two years later to go back to become an actor! Acting is a very challenging world which she took on as a martial arts act, dealing with the challenge of how to stay your centred self with all the blows. She moved to the US in 1995 for pilot season in Los Angeles and was expecting to hate it, but fell in love with California. Lisa enjoyed a successful acting career, appearing in many well-known shows. After having her first child, quitting acting, and joining her husband's tech business, they were destined for San Francisco...which she really didn't want to do. However, she did convince him to sell everything, move into a big RV, and head off on the road. After a few twists and turns in her own career she eventually focused her energy on building communities that support parents and families with high ability, divergent thinking kids, who didn't fit into the brick and mortar school model. Her newfound passion evolved over the years and she ended up co-founding a large network of 400+ families, educating kids in the SF Bay area. In 2014, she experienced a serendipitous moment while walking past a ballroom dance studio, and peeking in to see a bunch of Latin teenagers who were dancing away. Eight months later, she plucked up the courage to attend her first class. A year later, at 50 years old, she decided to compete and earned herself a title of World Champion Pro-Am American Rhythm Ballroom dancer! This is a lady embracing everything life has to throw at her, and she is not afraid to stand up and face it head-on, by constantly re-inventing herself and her career. She has dealt with the hiccups confidently and gracefully, including growing out her naturally stunning grey locks and wearing them with pride and a beautiful smile. We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did. Let's find out what it means for Lisa Betts-LaCroix, to be Ridiculously Human. RHP#107. Nick Osipczak, Martial Artist, Movement Expert, UFC Fighter, Hemp Specialist, Founder of Raised Spirit

Martial Artist. Movement Expert. UFC Fighter. Hemp Specialist. Sacred Geometry Artist. Father. Life Long Learner. Teacher. Founder of Raised Spirit. Being out in nature is one of the most energetic and soothing experiences a human can have. However, many of us are so blasé about our surroundings and never get to truly feel the many health benefits it provides. So in this modern day and age, most of us have lost our deeply rooted connection to nature. Our guest this week, Nick Osipczak, has a huge amount of knowledge about the benefits of nature which stemmed from his curiosity with art and ultimately sacred geometry. Nick was born and raised in South London. A place he does not associate much with these days. At school he tried to get away with doing as little as possible, which is why he took art as one of his subjects. He found that he actually enjoyed it, especially when he used to draw faces. He would draw them almost mathematically, without being aware of it. His mathematical mind served him well in school, when he became interested and obsessed with gambling. Spending six hours a day gambling with his mates played into his ability with numbers, statistics, and analysing situations. In University, he turned his attention to martial arts. Nick's progression through the ranks was rather quick. Each week he'd take his progress, extrapolate it, align it with his vision and the results kept coming. Nick went on to compete in the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) between the ages of 24-26. Being a professional fighter taught him many valuable lessons in life, which have now weaved their way into how he operates as a kind and caring human, a teacher, as well as a businessman and father. Upon leaving the UFC, he embarked on a journey to learn and master the internal arts, or more specifically, Tai-Chi Ch'uan. This spiritual martial art focuses heavily on mind, body and soul, and is one of the most demanding arts in the world which requires pure dedication from it's students. In November 2017, Nick began selling his own range of organic CBD, and has gradually increased the amount of hemp-based health products on offer. He believes that hemp will play a critical role moving forward, and in improving the way we interact with our planet. His gift is being able to see the best in people, and helping them fulfil their potential. He believes this must begin with a healthy and balanced lifestyle, in order for us to have the necessary energy required to live the lives we deserve. We are much more powerful when our primary motivations are to serve others. He emphasises the co-dependent relationship between the mind, body and spirit, by combining ancient oriental wisdom with modern science and research. His philosophy is… The Body must be open, strong, balanced, coordinated, flexible, and connected The Mind must be able to concentrate, focus, relax, project, connect and open The Spirit will expand as you begin to know yourself on a deeper level of consciousness The Breath must be cultivated diligently, as this is what links the body, mind and Spirit together We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did. RHP#106. Mandy Lehto, Business and Executive Coach, Writer, Speaker, Podcast Host and Recovering Overachiever

Business and Executive Coach. Writer. Speaker. ex-Investment Banker. PhD Historian. Podcast Host. Gentle Soul. Mother. Recovering Overachiever. Life is pretty much one big experiment if you really think about it. Somehow, miraculously we are all plonked into this world when we are born and have to figure things out from day one. Sure, you are provided with parents and meet other people along the way who are going to influence and mentor you. However, for the most part, we are on this magical experimental journey taking each moment as it comes. Our guest this week, Mandy Lehto, has at times in her life felt like a bit of a misfit and as though she was not living the life she intended, or was at least, meant to live. Mandy grew up as a farm girl in rural northern Ontario, Canada. She enjoyed a truly enriching and a self-sustaining lifestyle, with many great lessons for a young girl to learn. However, it's fair to say that not everything was hunky-dory. She had a father who pushed her way too much. She learned from a young age that being a super-achiever was the way to get love and validation. The 3 P's were a huge part of her life growing up: Be pleasing, passive and perfect. Everybody in her family, besides her, was musical. They could all sing or play musical instruments and she was just the smart one. It was like a clubhouse that she didn't have the key to. She did end up being the first woman in her family to ever to go to university. Her super achieving attitude earned a PhD from Cambridge University. She always had a massive passion for creative writing and in her twenties, she was obsessed with writing for a particular big-deal glossy magazine in the UK. She pitched ideas and wrote to the Editor again and again. When she finally heard back, commending her on her tenacity, she was encouraged to submit a piece. Mandy ended up chickening out and deleted the email. It was while working as a maternity nurse that an unexpected opportunity came knocking on her door. It led to Mandy getting a job in an investment bank. She learned the ropes and climbed the ranks extremely quickly. She looked incredibly successful to the outside world. However, her overachieving habits ended up with some heavy consequences, because inside she was dying. Her relationships were falling apart, she crashed through two marriages, and her health started falling to pieces as she suffered from severe adrenal fatigue. Yet she clung onto her 'winning life strategy'. Her journey to heal herself involved acupuncture, seeing a shaman, joining a top coaching mastermind, a spirit animal retrieval meditation, and a dialogue with her vagina. In 2009, she resigned from investment banking and started her own coaching and corporate training business. For the past few years, she's been having a love affair with herself, resting, nourishing, meditating, and slowing down. Letting go of old stories and ways of being that no longer serve her. We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did. Let's find out what it means for Mandy Lehto, to be Ridiculously Human. Superhumanship#17 - Adventure and Giving Back - For New Age Micro-Leaders and Micro-Influencers

Superhumanship, is a bonus podcast series which we run, that is all geared towards authentic leadership. Each week we try to disseminate the wisdom shared by our guests and provide our two cents too. We believe that in this day and age, we are all leaders and all people of influence. New age leadership, is upon us. So therefore, we need to adapt and all realise we have this amazing opportunity to contribute to this shift in micro-leadership and micro-influence. This week we spoke about… Habits - How and why we both gave up coffee for 6 weeks and one month respectively…and then started again :) How travelling and adventure provides some of the best education we will ever receive Why giving back to those less privileged is important and that it can also provide you with a greater sense of purpose Bravery is something we all have within ourselves. We've all garnered it on some sort of level in our lives That society sometimes gives the impression that you should do something a particular way.
