This summer we will be reposting a few of our favorite interviews. Dr. Michelle Watson Canfield immediately stuck out for us. Every dad needs to hear this episode. In January 2010 Dr. Michelle Watson Canfield founded The Abba Project where she leads dads of daughters ages 13 to 30 to dial in with more intention and consistency to their heart space. She leads a local group in Portland, Oregon annually every year from September through May. (you can read more under The Abba Project) Dr. Michelle has coached offspring Abba Project groups in Virginia and Washington State, with more to come. Dr. Michelle has written a book for dads of daughters titled, Dad, Here's What I Really Need from You: A Guide for Connecting with Your Daughter's Heart and it's also available in audiobook form in her own voice on Audible here. Her second book, "Let's Talk, Conversation Starters for Dads and Daughters" is filled with scripts for dads to equip them to strategically lead their daughters into conversations that matter, with a focus on greater depth that will allow her to know herself better! Named the 2022 Man of the Year by Men in the Arena, Mike Goins will be 76 next month and is an avid snow skier, road biker, and golfer. This guy has lived a noteworthy life worth learning from and imitating. Mike spent his career as the CFO of four Universities retiring in 2011. Since then, Mike served as a volunteer with CASA, Friendsview Retirement Community, Young Life, his local Church, and Men in the Arena where he has served as Board Chair and Treasurer. He also leads two Men in the Arena teams—one local and one virtual. When he isn't volunteering he is an avid snow skier, recently teaching his granddaughters how to ski. He rides thousands of miles annually with his bike club and is a regular on the golf course that butts up to his backyard. He is a mentor and father figure to me and many others. In this episode, Caitlin, our digital marketing team member, shares what she has noticed about our tribe of men and their struggles as she has helped us take our social media to the next level. We get a woman's inside perspective of Men in the Arena. Caitlin is a Digital Marketing Consultant based in California. She has degrees in marketing and web and information technology, and has spent the last 14 years helping ministries with their marketing from home while homeschooling her four kids. Caitlin has known Jim for 27 years, ever since he was her high school youth pastor (she witnessed Jim's infamous "dumping-trophies-onto-the-ground" sermon illustration) and he spoke at her wedding. She influences much of Men in the Arena's digital presence, including the website, social media strategy, and advertising.
