The Jewish leaders rightly recognized the work of necessity of obeying God’s Laws on circumcision, even on the Sabbath, but did not extend that to the work of mercy of Jesus’ healing on the Sabbath, or the work of necessity of plucking heads of grain on the Sabbath while walking through a grain field.

139: The Third Commandment, Pt 2

This month on Theonomoney, Jeremy spends some time talking about the assassination of Charlie Kirk, his funeral, and the death of Voddie Baucham, and then addresses the Third Commandment again, giving some general principles about it and applying it to each sphere of sovereignty.   Subscribe on your favorite podcast catcher, tell your friends about Theonomoney, and follow Theonomoney on Facebook, X, and Instagram. Check out great theonomic shirts and hoodies here: bonfire.com/store/theonomoney/   Catechism link: www.reformedreader.org/ccc/keachcat.htm   One aspect of how the Third Commandment applies to economics that Jeremy did not mention, related to the aspects of honesty mentioned (and thus this is related to the Ninth Commandment as well) is on weights and measures. It is dishonest and a violation of the implications of the Third Commandment on honesty to have dishonest weights, measures, and scales that steal from the customer. With weights and measures being true to what they are claimed to be, you do not have the issue of some people in a society trying to scam others in a society in this way and economic transactions are more trustworthy across the board; thus, the economy as a whole benefits.       All episodes of Theonomoney are presented free of charge for the benefit of the listener.
