Starting Something New?: Faking It IS Making It, Habits, and Identity | Ep. 39
Have you ever tried something new and it is so... awkward? You feel like you are faking it and it is just uncomfortable. In this episode, discover the challenges and rewards of adopting new habits and embracing a fresh identity. I share a personal story of when I decided to act like a smart kid, emphasizing James Clear's concept of habits as an embodiment of identity. I discuss how connecting values to desired habits is crucial for long-term integration. I acknowledge the initial awkwardness of adopting new habits and offer the idea that "faking it is making it" as a way to reframe beginner moments. The importance of perseverance in the face of doubt is emphasized. I embrace being a perpetual learner and encourage listeners to bravely embark on their journeys. The episode concludes with wishes for clarity, value-based habit formation, and self-compassion. Embrace the transformative power of "making it" even when it feels awkward!
