#29 - Practical and Pragmatic approaches to the BPS model with Dr Greg Lehman

In this episode with Greg, he shares a personal injury story about his own journey with frozen shoulder and low back pain. This allows us to explore some of Greg's beliefs and approaches towards treating patients with both of these conditions and how the BPS model comes into their treatment. #27 - Clinical pearls on tendinopathy with Dr Jill Cook

In this episode with Dr Jill Cook, we explore the tendon continuum model and the pathophysiology of tendons according to current research. We then delve deeper into what is clinically relevant and how we might prescribe rehabilitation for a real case. Jill challenges us on the notion of not just loading a tendon heavy and slow, and has practical tips around measuring load, not just pain. Dr Jill Cook is a Professor in musculoskeletal health in the La Trobe Sport and Exercise Medicine Research Centre at La Trobe University in Melbourne Australia. Jill's research areas include sports medicine and tendon injury. After completing her PhD in 2000, she has investigated tendon pathology, treatment options and risk factors for tendon injury. #21 - Exploring physical exercise prescription with Dr. Jane Thornton

In this episode we explore the physical exercise guidelines, barriers, benefits and how we are performing as health professionals with exercise prescription. Dr Jane Thornton discusses the latest research in relation to the current exercise prescription principles, specifically through the WHO guidelines. Dr. Thornton is a Clinician Scientist specialising in long-term athlete health, female athlete health, and physical activity in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, with cross appointments in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics and Department of Kinesiology at Western University in London, Canada. #20 - Knee pain in adolescents with Dr. Sinéad Holden

In this episode we spoke to Dr. Sinéad Holden about the diagnosis, prognosis and management of knee pain in adolescents. She particularly covered Osgood-Schlatters disease or OSD and differential diagnosis from patellofemoral pain. We discussed the role of imaging in diagnosis of OSD and common findings of imaging with OSD as well as factors which may lead to pain later on in adulthood. Dr. Sinéad Holden is a Senior Researcher and Co-founder of the OptiYouth Group focused on ‘optimising physical health in youth’. Her research investigates adolescent MSK pain, and physical activity related injuries. She recently completed an Individual participant data (IPD) meta-analysis of prognostic factors for anterior knee pain in adolescents published in PAIN the journal.
