Brief Bio: Thom Shea is the founder and CEO of Adamantine Alliance, a unique leadership and human performance coaching organization. He conducts training throughout the nation developing transformational performance results for various individuals, teams and organizations. Shea served 23 years with distinguished valor as a Navy SEAL. During his career he served in three wars, ultimately leading a Team of Navy SEALs into Afghanistan in 2009, where he earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star with Valor, Army Commendation with Valor and his second Combat Action medal. Shea was "hand selected" to serve as officer-in-charge of the famed SEAL sniper course from 2009-2011. Shea is the author of "Unbreakable: A Navy SEAL's Way of Life" to be released summer of 2014. He currently serves as director of operations and sales with Barber Wind Turbines. He holds a bachelor's degree from Ball State University and a Master Training Specialist certification from Naval Special Warfare Center. He now resides in Greenville with his wife and their three children. In this episode, you'll learn: Thom's rise from failure to becoming a Navy SEAL (03:41) Be resilient – 6 ways to bounce back from adversity (13:12) Life changing lessons from A Navy SEAL (14:58) The importance of keeping and honoring your word (18:45) 5 Tips to master your internal dialogue (20:37) How to cope with grief and loss (37:33) How to live a well-balanced life (53:43) How to thrive in chaos and uncertainty (29:31) The link between fitness & success (55:15) Ted Takeaways 1. How well do you honor your word? How often do you honor your word? Ask yourself those question and be brutally honest with your answer. 2. We often quit when we know we shouldn't. I don't think all types of quitting are bad but the question is do you quit when it gets tough — even when you know it's the right thing for you. I used to quit and whine a lot, but I've learned that to get things done you have to push through the difficult times. Remember, there is always a solution to your problem. 3. How well trained are you for the type of life that you want? This point stuck out to me. You heard how in the Navy SEALs they train through hellish circumstances. Although we will never see combat, we will face situations that will test us. And here's the question, how well trained are you for that? What an incredible story! After such a powerful interview I would love to know: What can you do to be better? Please, post you answer in the comment section or email me at ted@legendarylifepodcast.com . 234: The Most Powerful Way To Get Motivated with Ted Ryce

The most valuable and prized possession is our health. Without our health, we wouldn't be able to achieve the things we want to in our life, go places we want to go and do things we want to do. Over time with the rise in the consumption of processed food and the advancement of technology more and more people have turned away from taking care of their bodies. These bad habits along with the expectation for everyday comforts have created an increase in illness and lack of peak performance in the body. We have literally lost control of what goes on in our body and in our health. But I want you to know that there is another choice if you practice treating yourself well. If you are ready to have the energy to do what you really want in life and the mental clarity and motivation to make it happen, you should listen to this episode now and get access to my free video training! I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say to me, "We're all going to die, so what's the point of putting in all the effort just to be healthy?" What's the point of working out and eating healthy if I don't enjoy it? Look, I get it, why shouldn't you want to give into every desire and temptation that comes your way. As great as that sounds, the reality is acting on every impulse is going to leave you riddled with disease, lacking energy, lacking the ability to function and dependent. Ask yourself these questions: Wouldn't I rather live more years so that I can truly live life to the fullest? Isn't part of enjoying life having lots of energy and minimal pain? Can I live a fulfilled life when I am held down with extra weight and disease? What would life be like if I couldn't do simple tasks, like playing with my children? Do I enjoy being tired all the time? Can I afford to be unhealthy? Why should you make the effort to be healthy? Eventually, every day begins and in the first few minutes, you will have to face yourself day after day and the effects of living a life out of control. I used to be that guy; I've spent years harming myself and dreaded facing the day because of how horrible I felt. Now, I wake up excited and ready take on the day because I started taking better care of myself. I want you to feel excited about your life too and health and fitness is the foundation for that to happen. I want you to know that there is another choice if you practice treating yourself well. If you exercise, eat well, drink enough water, and get good quality of sleep. Positive actions will reap positive memories and a deep meaningful sense of accomplishment and a sense of, "I'm doing the right thing for myself." If you're guilty of focusing all your energy on working hard and trying to make more money instead of focusing on health. And your health is deteriorating, the pounds are coming on, your waistline is increasing and your blood pressure and cholesterol is going up. I want you to know that it is preventable but it starts with making a decision to take action. Take control of your health That's why I put together my free video series: How to Take Control of your Health and Fitness in 2017, yes even if you're busy. I don't want you to become another statistic. Another person who didn't have the energy to do what they really wanted in life because of their body or who didn't have the mental clarity and motivation to make it happen. Watch this limited-time free video training series and finally get your health and fitness handled in 2017. I wanted to let you know that we're shutting down enrollment for the Legendary Coaching Program Sunday at MIDNIGHT Est. Time.
