In this blogcast, Burnes Center for Social Change Senior Fellow Seth Harris is joined by Professor John Kallas to break down the numbers behind worker activism in 2025 — how many strikes were launched, how many workers walked off the job, and what it all means for labor power in America.Continuing a Power At Work annual tradition, Seth and John discuss the Cornell ILR-University of Illinois Labor Action Tracker's Annual Report on work stoppages in 2025. They examine whether workers grew bolder or more cautious during the first year of the second Trump presidency — and what workers were fighting for when they did strike: higher wages, safer workplaces, and an end to anti-union retaliation.Professor John Kallas is the director of the Labor Action Tracker.
