CORNISH SOCCER talks to John Dent - another in the "Cornish football Nostalgia" series
Another episode in the CORNISH SOCCER Podcast series of trips down memory lane with pure nostalgia, this time with John Dent.
John played and went on to manage in the local game for well over 40 years.
With such a long, esteemed time in the game, we could have no doubt talked for ages, however in this episode we concentrated on his time as a youngster with his home town club Plymouth Argyle; his “Twin Towers Wembley” memories and of course when he both played and later became manager at his favourite local club – Falmouth Town.
Good times, emotional recollections and great characters discussed and so take a listen and enjoy.
My thanks go to John for sparing the time and giving all us local football supporters an hour of pure nostalgia!

RAPPO & DEACS FRIDAY FIX
17 May 2019
Welcome to the 24th episode. The last one!
We’re still in the Cup Final period of the season and so understandably there’s a review of last Saturday’s SWPL League Cup Final, as well as a mention for Sunday’s Duchy League final which features St Mawgan and Foxhole clashing again. St Mawgan’s manager Ash Bicknall is back on to give us his thoughts while Lee Denton also tells how he happens to be back at Perranporth and looking to seal his second Combo league title in two seasons for the club!
Falmouth Town’s Young Player of the Season, Martyn Duff, explains how he feels his playing role is at the club and we finish the season with our regular SWPL contributor, secretary Phil Hiscox, giving his thoughts on the league’s season. Many thanks to Phil for his weekly contribution.
We sum up how much we have in the kitty after our weekly “Bet of the Week” slot, and of course there’s the final result for the Predictions we made every week!
Rappo also shares his last Combo review of the season.
As this is the last episode, thanks to everyone who has contributed over the 24 weeks. You have been so helpful in having a chat about the local game. It’s made some great listening and I hope you have enjoyed what we have tried to do.

RAPPO & DEACS EASTER CUP SPECIAL
18th April 2019
Thank you for listening to another episode of the podcast.
This is the 20th episode to become available to download and enjoy. Of course, we’re out a day early this week because of the busy Easter local football programme.
It’s always a special time in the football calendar with not only an all but full programme of SWPL matches on the Good Friday, but then cup football takes over with the Cornwall Combination League Cup Final on the Sunday and of course the Cornwall Senior Cup final on the Easter Monday. Our version of the FA Cup as described by three of our guests this week St Austell’s Caretaker Manager Neil Slateford, who is also no stranger to appearing in the final, and we also talk to the two managers involved on the day – Saltash’s Matt Cusack and Falmouth’s Andy Westgarth.
Before that however, we also hear from two key people in the build-up to the Combo final on the Sunday – Illogan’s skipper Steve Abbott-Smith and St Day’s assistant manager Rob Hosking.
It’s a special cup episode and no apologies for it being just over two hours. You’ve got the whole weekend to listen to it! It’s great that we can get to hear from people who will be involved in the big games coming up and that we can share them with you, our listeners.
There’s also the usual features such as Rappo’s “Bet of the Week” and our Predictions on a handful of games throughout the Saturday football programme, from SWPL through to Duchy and Trelawny.
We keep in touch with our resident Truro City supporters, Cam and Josh, as well as with the SWPL secretary Phil Hiscox.
While Rappo takes his regular look at the Cornwall Combination League scene, we also touch on the MAB ECPL Premier Division title run-in, and more from this league next week with their league cup final taking place.
Once again, thanks for listening and please feel free to contact me – davedeacon@cornishsoccer.info with feedback, comments and suggestions for future episodes.

The RAPPO & DEACS FRIDAY FIX PODCAST 5th April 2019
RAPPO & DEACS FRIDAY FIX PODCAST
5th April 2019
This is episode 18 of the FRIDAY FIX podcast and it’s another packed one!
We hear from four guests this week, two of which are Reserve team managers and two of which are SWPL players.
Steve Manuel, manager of Saltash United Reserves, gives his thoughts on the exciting MAB ECPL Premier Division title race, while Rob Noventa is open and honest in sharing with us the struggle he’s having at Porthleven, in charge of the Reserves at Gala Parc. We also have an extended interview with Rob because he explains the troubles in more detail along with of course, he was personally involved in the “referee walking off incident” at Falmouth only three days ago!
Tom Whipp, a Bodmin Town defender, tells us why they are getting things together at the Priory Park club, and Liskeard Athletic skipper Jack Podmore gives his thoughts on the Blues closing in on the Division One West title.
As always, our resident guests - Truro City supporters, Josh and Cam, and SWPL secretary Phil Hiscox, contribute with their weekly slots and Rappo brings us his “Bet of the Week”, along with his Combo review and I join him in our Predictions on five games throughout the weekend’s football programme.
This week is a longer episode, mainly because of the extended interview with Rob, but we felt it was important to hear his views on the referee incident! Don’t forget, you can always stop and start the podcast as is convenient to you.
Thanks for listening and please feel free to contact me – davedeacon@cornishsoccer.info with feedback, comments and suggestions for future episodes.
It’s great being able to talk about Cornish football and if you know of anyone who wants to join in with Rappo and me, get in touch.
Click, listen and enjoy!
