Living with Schizophrenia with António Ferreira
As a teenager, I was diagnosed with, Undifferentiated Schizophrenia and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
I experienced auditory hallucinations, which at the time took over my life.
At the age of 16 I attempted to take my life and was admitted to a mental health ward, where I remained for roughly two years.
However, that experience went on to shape my ambition. Today, I am stronger and much more resilient.
Recovery can vary depending on the individual's willingness to want to get better.
I acknowledge and accept that trials and tribulations make up the journey.
So I'm proud to be a mental health ambassador because "that person who helps others, simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero".
