South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer on football, family, coaching and faith

Shane Beamer is the head football coach at South Carolina. He just finished his first season with the Gamecocks in 2021 and went 7-6 and won the Duke's Mayo Bowl 38-21 over North Carolina. Beamer is the son of former Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer and played football for his father in the late 1990's as a wide receiver and long snapper. Following in the footsteps of his dad, Beamer was a grad assistant and assistant coach for 20 years with Tennessee, South Carolina Virginia Tech, Georgia and Oklahoma before getting his first head coaching job in December 2020 with South Carolina. Today on the podcast, we talk to Shane Beamer about his coaching style, the experience his first head coaching job, lessons learned from his football coaching father and how his faith keeps him grounded each day. Former MLB pitcher Brandon Puffer on baseball, prison and restoration

Brandon Puffer was a former professional baseball pitcher. He was selected in the 27th round of the 1994 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins. After stints with the Angels, Reds and Rockies, Puffer signed with the Astros and made his MLB debut on April 17, 2002. He also had stints with the Red Sox, Padres and Giants.  In 2008, Puffer's baseball career ended when he was arrested for burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit a felony. Puffer was found guilty in 2009 and sentenced to five years in prison. Dallas Cowboys chaplain Jonathan Evans on football, marriage and family

Jonathan Evans is the team chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys and an accomplished speaker, teacher and author. He currently serves on the pastoral staff at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship with his father, Dr. Tony Evans. His sister, Priscilla Shirer, is a speaker, author and actor, and his brother, Anthony, is a singer and worship leader. Jonathan played college football at Baylor, was an undrafted free agent in 2005, and spent time in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys under head coach Bill Parcells. After football was over, Evans got his master’s degree in Christian leadership from Dallas Theological Seminary. His latest book, "Your Time is Now Devotional" was released in 2022. Today on the podcast, Evans joins Jade McCarthy sharing stories of parenting, his pro football journey, becoming the Cowboys chaplain and finding balance in his busy life. Green Bay Packers linebacker Ty Summers on Bible studies, Lambeau Field and being an ambassador for Christ

Ty Summers is a linebacker with the Packers. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft by Green Bay (226th overall) and has found himself as a core special teams player in the NFL.  In college at TCU, Summers received second team All-Big 12 honors in 2016 and honorable mention All-Big 12 honors in 2017 and 2018. He was selected as the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after finishing with a career-high 23 tackles (seven solo) in a 28-21 double-overtime victory vs. Baylor on November 27, 2017. He was named one of the TCU Fellowship of Christian Athletes Bob Lilly Athletes of the Year award recipients for the 2017-18 academic year. Maggi Thorne on American Ninja Warrior, overcoming obstacles and trusting in Jesus

Maggi Thorne is a mother of 3 and an American Ninja Warrior 7x competitor. She was the second mom up the warped wall and the first to beat the salmon ladder. In 2013, she placed second at The Worlds Toughest Mudder running 75 miles and completing 330 obstacles in 24 hours. Thorne has also served as a Global Ambassador for feedONE traveling the world in an effort to further the mission of giving others the gift of a nutritious meal. She's also the CEO of JoyFlowCo, helping active women of all ages by empowering, equipping and encouraging other females. Josh Manson on winning the 2022 Stanley Cup and staying connected to God

Josh Manson is a defenseman Colorado Avalanche. He was a member of the 2021-22 Stanley Cup champion Avalanche team that beat Tampa in six games. Manson was a key contributor for the team, including scoring a goal in Game 2 and setting up the eventual game winning goal in the Game 6 clincher. On July 13, Manson agreed to a new four-year contract to return to Colorado. Josh’s father, Dave Manson, was a first-round pick and played in the NHL from 1986-2002. Matt Stinchcomb on Georgia football, his shocking media journey and spiritual maturation

Matt Stinchcomb is currently a college football analyst for the SEC Network and ESPN. Prior to his broadcasting journey, Stinchcomb was a professional football player. He was selected 18th overall in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Raiders. He would play four seasons in Oakland and then two with Tampa Bay before injuries ended his playing career at the age of 29.  In college, Stinchcomb was a standout offensive lineman at the University of Georgia, where he was named First-team All-American in back-to-back seasons in 1997 and 1998. In 2018, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
