20: Career Resiliency
Send us Fan MailBy its definition, resiliency is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties. It is also about being able to bounce back from setbacks and challenges that are derailing your progress. Your resiliency reflects your mindset for dealing with the detours, roadblocks, and bumps as you navigate your career. You are either the victim, the fighter, the rationalizer, the caregiver, or the opportunist for your career - and more than likely – you are all of them at some point. In this episode, I will help you explore your thinking to determine when you are resilient and when you are holding back from going after your dreams and goals. I’ll share my career lessons and why not getting my dream job on the first go-around was one of the best things to happen to me. I’ll help you set realistic expectations for your job search at a time when mid-career is filled with many more responsibilities than when you were younger. And, I’ll show you how your brain is either helping you create the results you want in your career or not. There is no magic formula to help you get your next job. Different things work for different people. However, being resilient is a choice. It’s time to take your lessons learned, put your foot on the gas and let’s get to whatever is next for your career.
