An Impure Heart in a Pure Court [Hikam 13]
Hikam 13 (Page 95) of the Book of Wisdoms https://www.whitethreadpress.com/publication/the-book-of-wisdoms-kitab-al-hikam/
"How can the heart be illuminated while the forms of creation are reflected in its mirror?
Or how can it journey to God while shackled by its passions?
Or how can it desire to enter the presence of God while it has not yet purified itself of the stain of its forgetfulness?
Or how can it understand the subtle points of mysteries while it has not yet repented of its offences?"
The Shaykh explains the second half of this four-piece aphorism. The requirement of cleansing the heart from any distractions and addictions to journey and enter into the presence of Allah Most High and secondly, understanding the need of holding fast to tawbah (seeking forgiveness).
