The Work Podcast Episode 46 - OMAD & Updates
We just wrapped up a quick episode of The Work. We had a bit of a late start because I was finishing up at the accountant’s office—dealing with that usual year-end and beginning-of-the-year paperwork.I’m really leaning into the data right now. I’m planning to fly to Vegas the second week of March to be on Dave Feldman’s podcast, so I want to have a fully comprehensive lab panel and Dexa scan done before then. I want to see what my markers look like specifically in the context of my current body fat. It’s wild how much an influx of food and higher body fat can swing your lipid panels; I’ve seen my total cholesterol hit 400 in a surplus and then drop back to 200 once I returned to baseline.I’ve pivoted away from the fiber experiment because the inflammation was up and I just wasn't enjoying the food. Now, I'm doing a One Meal a Day (OMAD) approach. It’s a tangible way for me to keep the reins on my total consumption while still feeling completely satiated—like a "lion eating a gazelle." My routine is heavy cream in my coffee during the day, followed by one large 2,500–3,000 calorie meal in the evening. After that meal, I’ll take the kids to the gym and walk laps with the stroller to keep my blood sugar stable. I’m even going to grab an over-the-counter CGM (the Lingo) to track exactly how those meals and the post-meal movement impact my levels. We spent some time talking about the "shredded year-round" trap. If you’re a natural lifter and you actually want to make progress from season to season, you have to allow yourself a legitimate building phase with higher body fat. Bragging about abs year-round doesn't mean much if you have no legs, no strength, and your hormones are trashed. You’ve got to give yourself time in a surplus if you want to put on substantial tissue.Tough Mudder: We’re heading out next Friday with a crew of 10 or 12 people. We've got a massive Airbnb booked and I'm planning a build-your-own shish kebab night for everyone.Bacon & Bullets: We’re getting ready to process our pigs soon. I want to have a big team day where we roast half a pig, shoot some guns, and make some cracklings.Show Prep: We’ve been driving around sticking up posters at local gyms to get people registered for the upcoming show.Giveaway: Congrats to Joyce, the winner of our $6,500 Carnivore Convenience collab bundle. She’s set on groceries for a long time. We’ve got something huge in the pipeline that we aren't ready to talk about yet, but we'll dive into that on the next one.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ

The Work Podcast Episode 45 - One Year In!
Can you believe it? We are officially one year into The Work podcast! It’s been exactly a year since we dropped our first episode on Valentine’s Day 2025, and what a ride it’s been. This show started as a creative outlet and a way to give you guys real-time updates, and the support from this community has been incredible. In today's episode, we’re diving into some "gym talk" rants and observations from the week. We touch on the strange culture of negativity on social media—specifically the "venom" found on platforms like Threads—and why it seems like people are looking for any reason to be offended. We also get into a pretty candid conversation about the state of masculinity today, the "warrior poet" concept, and why self-imposed hardship is necessary to build character.I also give a (possibly final) update on my high-fiber experiment. I went from 5 grams to nearly 35 grams of fiber a day this month, and the results... well, they weren't what the "experts" promised. From systemic inflammation to feeling like a 97-year-old man, I’m breaking down why I might be calling it quits on the veggies to get back to peak performance before our upcoming Tough Mudder. In this episode:One Year Anniversary: Reflecting on a year of recording and why most podcasts don’t make it past episode three. The "Threads" Phenotype: Why certain social media platforms become breeding grounds for negativity and victim mentality. The Devolved Man: Our take on the current dating pool, the lack of "capable" men, and why you need both a hard and soft side to be well-rounded.The Fiber Update: How 30g of fiber and increased carbs impacted my inflammation, sleep, and training recovery.Abundance vs. Scarcity: My new strategy for the building phase—eating to satiety and simply doing more rather than cutting back.Minnesota Trip Recap: A look at the massive Los Campeones gym and the "Conquer Convenience" giveaway.Sunday is the final day to enter our massive Conquer Convenience Giveaway (valued at over $6,500!). The Work Podcast Episode 44 - Where’s The Integrity?
In this episode of The Work, we’re diving deep into a topic that’s been heavy on my mind lately: integrity. We start off with a little trip down memory lane, reflecting on the lessons our parents instilled in us—like the time my brother and I learned a hard lesson about honesty after a "free" gumball heist at the barbershop. It’s those small moments that build the foundation for how you handle yourself when no one is looking. We also touch on some recent headlines surrounding Peter Attia and the importance of holding ourselves to a high moral standard, regardless of how much "knowledge" someone might have. If you aren't a good person, the rest of it doesn't really matter. On the health front, I’m launching into a brand-new 30-day experiment. After a decade of strict keto with minimal fiber, I’m cranking my fiber intake way up to see how it affects my satiety, digestion, and overall performance. I break down exactly what my "note-meal" looks like and how I'm balancing these new macros while staying lean.Plus, we’ve got some massive business updates:The Ultimate Carnivore Convenience Collab: We’re giving away over $6,500 worth of food and gear with our friends at Carnivore Snacks, Carnivore Bar, and Craft Fish Co.Carnivore Cake Pop is Back: Our lowest-carb, highest-protein brick is officially back in stock.Project Grit: I’ve officially taken over the brand! We’ve moved all the inventory in-house, and I’m sharing a special discount code for the listeners.Use code: THEWORK for 20% off at ProjectGrit.comThanks for tuning in. Remember: how you do anything is how you do everything. Stay savage!Would you like me to create a list of the specific high-fiber food sources mentioned in my experiment for you?Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ
