Starting A Business is Easier Than You Think #512

“Inconceivable!”. There are certain tasks in life that feel virtually impossible. One that comes to mind is painting your house- “I can’t do that, I’m not a professional painter!”. When in reality, that’s a project you actually could perform well. Or another one might be something like baking some biscuits- “I’m not some culinary magician who can whip together some homemade biscuits from scratch!”. When fact, that’s something 6th graders learn how to do in middle school. And the same thing is true for starting your own business- there seems to be this special aura surrounding small businesses that lead many to think that they don’t have what it takes. That it takes some special wizardry to run your own business. But we think that you do, in fact, have what it takes, that the pros outweigh the cons, and that the financial upside is worth leaving the “safety” of a W2 job. Listen as we cover the many reasons we believe starting a business is actually easier than you think.   During this episode we enjoyed a Let's Get Some F****** Fraanch Toast by Bhramari Brewing! Cashing in on the Home Equity Explosion #506

When your home’s value increases by over $50,000 in 2021 alone- you take notice! As you’ve witnessed your home equity continue to balloon, you might be tempted to do something with those newly discovered funds. You might start getting the itch to finally spend some of that ‘hard earned money’ on a boat or maybe even a lavish vacation. Navigating the New Era of Cheap Travel with Scott Keyes #505

Our guest today is Scott Keyes- founder of Scott’s Cheap Flights, a travel platform with over two million members around the world. It’s been called “the travel world’s best-kept secret” by Thrillist and received praise in The New York Times among others. But before he became our favorite expert on ways to keep vacation costs down, Scott worked for years as a journalist, with bylines in The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and plenty of other publications. And now, he’s published a book titled, “Take More Vacations”, which we’ll discuss today as well. With virtually everyone out there clamoring to take a vacation, we’re really excited to be talking about this timely topic. Prepping for a Looming Recession #503

Have you ever been to a Broadway show? It’s amazing- whether you’re drawn to the storyline, the music, the costumes- but of course the cast is pivotal. And for any major theatrical production, not only are there the performers you see on stage, but there are also countless understudies. The backup cast members who learn all the lines, and know exactly what to do in case one of the performers gets sick or can’t perform. They’re preparing for the worst. We think of prepping for a recession in a similar way. We don’t know exactly when it’s going to happen. In fact, we hope that we don’t experience one anytime soon! But when it does, you’re going to be able to weather that storm much better if you take the proper precautions ahead of time. And with more talk of a recession on the horizon, we figured now was a great time to discuss what you should be doing. We’re going to get granular on this one and give specific steps that you should take in order to be prepared whether we enter recession territory later this year, or if it takes an entire decade! Either way, you’re going to be ready.   During this episode we enjoyed an Altbairisch Dunkel by Ayinger! And please help us to spread the word by letting friends and family know about How to Money!
