Show notes for this episode can be found here. Dr. Meera Harhay Dr. Harhay is a transplant nephrologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Harhay completed her undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University in 2003; completed her medical degree, an internal medicine residency, a nephrology fellowship, and a transplant nephrology fellowship all at the University of Pennsylvania by 2014, after which she joined the faculty at Drexel. During her nephrology fellowship, Dr. Harhay also completed a master's of clinical epidemiology and biostatistics and has since published dozens of peer-reviewed articles on kidney disease and transplantation. Her research is currently supported by NIH funding from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases. Please enjoy with Dr. Meera Harhay!

Dr. Leal Herlitz Dr. Herlitz is an Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist and the Director of Medical Kidney Pathology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Herlitz completed her undergraduate degree at Swarthmore College in 1999; completed her medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2004; then completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical pathology followed by a fellowship in Renal Pathology both at Columbia University Medical Center by 2009, where she remained as faculty prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic in 2014. She is board certified in both anatomic and clinical pathology. She also engages in collaborative basic science and clinical research and is an author on over 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. She has recently assumed leadership of the pathology thread at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine with the goal of helping to highlight pathology as one of the career paths open to medical students. Dr. Schimpf completed her undergraduate and medical degree at the University of Michigan by 2001; completed a residency in obstetrics & gynecology at the University of Connecticut in 2005; and then completed a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (aka Urogynecology, aka Urogyn) at Hartford Hospital in 2008, after which she eventually returned to Michigan to join the faculty. Dr. Schimpf is a member and spokesperson for the American Urogynecologic Socitey, and her clinical interests include the impact of obstetrics on the pelvic floor, as well as robotic surgery for prolapse and urinary incontinence. Show notes for this episode can be found here. Dr. Alex Macario Dr. Macario is the Program Director of Anesthesiology at Stanford University School of Medicine, as well as a physician with an MBA. Dr. Macario completed his undergraduate, medical school and business school degree at the University of Rochester all by 1990. He then completed an anesthesiology residency, as well as a postgraduate fellowship in health services research at Stanford by 1995. In addition to many other professional involvements such as being the Program Director of the Combined Internal Medicine-Anesthesiology and Combined Pediatrics-Anesthesiology residency programs at Stanford, Dr. Macario has mentored many physicians on the merits of pursing business training along side their medical training and is the author of a paper titled "Should I Get a Masters of Business Administration?" published in Current Opinion in Anesthesiology. Of note, Dr. Macario is the founder and director of the Management Fellowship at Stanford, a postgraduate program which trains physicians in areas such as leadership, informatics, entrepreneurship, quality, and management science with special attention to the delivery of surgical and anesthesia care. Dr. Jeffrey Janis Dr. Janis is full-time faculty as a Professor and Executive Vice Chairman in the Department of Plastic Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Dr. Janis completed his undergraduate degree at Washington University Olin School of Business in 1993; completed his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1998; and then completed an integrated plastic surgery residency at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2003. Dr. Janis is currently the President-Elect (will take the job in October of 2017) on the Executive Board of American Society of Plastic Surgery, also serving as the Board Vice President of Education, overseeing all education for the largest plastic surgery organization in the world. He has been repeatedly named to the U.S. News and World Report "Top Doctors", and also has received similar recognition by Best Doctors in America, America's Top Plastic Surgeons, and Who's Who in America. Of note, Dr Janis was also part of the team that performed the first full U.S. face transplant at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts in 2011. Dr. Chandra completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota in 1999; completed her medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2004; then completed a general surgery residency, a biodesign innovation fellowship, and finally a vascular surgery fellowship at Stanford by 2013. In addition to her role as associate program director of the vascular surgery fellowship, Dr. Chandra is the founder of the Stanford Limb Salvage Initiative where research on new and cutting edge peripheral vascular and limb salvage techniques is performed, as well as work to optimize the management of patients and education of residents and fellows in this complex field. Dr. Gordon Bennett Dr. Bennett is an orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon at the Crystal Clinic Orthopedic Center, a private multi-group specialty practice in Akron, Ohio. Dr. Bennett completed his undergraduate and medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan by 1982; completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Akron General Medical Center in 1988; and then completed a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1989, eventually returning to Akron by 1999 to join the Crystal Clinic where he is now an executive vice president on the board of managers. While predominantly a private practice physician, Dr. Bennett is also a clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University where he lectures medical students and residents on all facets of orthopedic foot and ankle management. Dr. Voos completed his medical degree at the University of Kansas in 2004; completed an Orthopedic Surgery Residency follow by a Sports Medicine Fellowship in 2010 at the US News & World Report #1 ranked "Hospital for Special Surgery in New York" where he was an assistant Team Physician for the New York Giants and WNBA New York Liberty. He has published over 50 scientific articles and book chapters on topics such as ACL reconstruction, shoulder instability and hip arthroscopy. Dr. Malone completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame in 1995; completed his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati in 2001; completed residency in orthopedic surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in 2006; and then completed a Hand and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Washington Harborview Medical Center in 2007, after which he returned to Cleveland to start his practice. Dr. Malone is also on the consulting medical staff for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League, and is an investigator on a DARPA funded project to develop an advanced sensory neuroprosthesis for upper extremity amputees.
