Famed psychologist David Benner says: “The problem isn’t so much that we tell lies, but that we live them.” When we let the lies in, they wreak havoc to our souls and sabotage our peace. But how do we fight deceptive ideas that lead to disordered desires? Jesus, on the other hand, says that, “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” We have to know the difference between our voice, the enemy’s voice, and God’s voice. Only then can we live a life that is based in truth. Only then can we live no lies.

Sometimes it can be so easy to walk through life discouraged and feeling alone. Even with the best intentions and resolutions, we often find ourselves back to old patterns and habits when we try to change. Sometimes what we need most is a word of encouragement to simply keep going. It’s almost like someone throwing a life preserver to us just when we feel like we’re drowning. Maybe we just need a simple reminder in 2022: Don’t Give Up.

During this time of year, people all over the world turn on their favorite Christmas movies as a way to enjoy the season. Christmas movies are nostalgic, funny, and they remind us, through our favorite characters, that Christmas is so much more than decorations and presents under the tree. We are all devoted to something. Our jobs, our kids, our favorite team, our bank accounts... the list is endless. However, Jesus calls us as Christ followers to be devoted to Him. To His teachings. To His ways. And the early church disciples found a great recipe to help us navigate the pathway of life as a Christian... so the question is not, "WHAT do we do?", but rather, "Are we DEVOTED to it?"
