Apart from God’s “saving grace” (found only in Christ), all people have embraced their own rebellion by casting off the righteous rule of God and his Law. Therefore, on one level, Romans 1:24-32 applies to each and every individual who has been born. However, on another level, Romans 1:24-32 also applies to collective societies and cultures down through human history. At the Tower of Babel, arrogant sinners defied God and incurred his just judgment. At Sodom and Gomorrah, the people were so corrupt that God rained down fire and consumed their cities. Furthermore, when God told Moses and Joshua to utterly destroy the Canaanites, it was because these wicked and godless people had filled up the full measure of God’s wrath by committing heinous acts of rebellion for over 400 years (Genesis 15:13-16). In short, when a society abandons God, God will abandon them.

Romans 1:24-32 is clear, when a society willfully chooses to reject God’s truth in exchange for the lie, as well as reject God’s glory in exchange for the glory of the creature, God promises to hand them over to their sins and the horrible consequences which will inevitably follow. Romans 1:18 assures us that God has clearly revealed himself to all people, both by his creation and his just wrath toward sinners. So in Romans 1:24-32, the Apostle Paul is merely demonstrating precisely how the wrath of God is revealed. One clear demonstration of the wrath of God is God’s choice to hand sinners over to their own lusts, so that they might receive the “due penalty” for their sin (the natural consequences of sin). In other words, sin is its own punishment (not the only/ultimate punishment).

Jericho could not put its trust in the courage of its people to take the offensive, so it trusted in the strength of its walls to provide a sturdy defense. Even in the midst of terror, Jericho placed trust in itself, not the Lord. And so Jericho was “shut up.” It did not possess the courage to deploy an attack, but neither did it possess the humility to offer surrender. None went out from the walls to offer a treatise of peace with the armies of Yahweh. In one sense, their hearts were melted like wax with fear, but in another sense their hearts were hardened to their own destruction. So is the miserable state of all those that strengthen themselves against the hand of the Almighty.

Christian pope, no. 3) Do we get three-letter agencies enforcing religious law? No police state. You will have far more freedom. 4) It has been said that "atheism will not be tolerated" and "will be stamped out," how is that going to be accomplished? Through proper education. 5) Do you believe in the 1st Amendment? All of it? Yes. No favoring one particular religion “of our common Lord.” Adopt a distinctly Christian Preamble. #ZambiaForever #BlackLawsMatter 6) Do gays deserve tolerance? If not, would you want to execute gays? No police state. The closet is a safe space. Restore the grace of shame. Public celebration will not be tolerated. #UgandaForever #BlackLaws Matter 7) Do you prefer to live in a community of mainly only white people? Do you believe black people can be integrated successfully into the American population and form a cohesive and peaceful nation? Prefer to live with Christian Americans, skin pigmentation is of no account. Many black people in American can trace their lineage as Americans further back than many white people can. Illegal immigration would be stopped, legal immigration would be significantly mitigated. 8) Since it's a small minority view, how will it be implemented? Will you win over the population? How? Will it be forced? How? And by whom? Top-down without violence (LGBT replaced the American flag with a rainbow in 40 years with less than 3% of the population), also bottom-up through obeying the Great Commission. 9) How patriarchal will the system be? Can women vote? Will they have to cover their heads? Stay home? 19th Amendment will eventually be repealed. God will not be mocked, a man reaps what he sows. So too, this principle is true of nations. The nation that fears the Lord will be exalted.

God will defeat every one of his enemies. Some are defeated by grace - God mercifully causes these sinners to become his adopted sons. Others are defeated by justice.

This “man” who was standing before Joshua with his sword drawn in his hand was clearly no mere man, nor was he merely a created angel in human form. Instead, he was undoubtedly a Divine Person, physically manifest in the form of a man. Therefore, this is no one less than the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, manifested as a “theophany.” This reality is further clarified by the fact that Joshua paid homage, and even worship, unto him by his calling him Lord, and by acknowledging the ground on which he stood as holy.
