This Year We're Gonna Recruit Like It's 1999
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). Last week we talked about how to become workplace fascinating, and this week we're going to talk about how 2015 will be the best year for recruiting since 1999. Consider this: more jobs were created in 2014 than in any other year since 1999. According to a recent New York Times article, employers have hired more than one million people since November 1, 2014. However, it's not all "Happy New Year" champagne and caviar; there is still an end-of-times dirge bemoaning that upwards of 30 million Americans are either out of work or severely underemployed. Either way, company culture and transparent relationships will be the primary drivers for successfully recruiting and retaining employees in 2015. The talent acquisition teams that get this will facilitate winning. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we learn about how 2015 will be the best year for recruiting since 1999 with this week's guest: Will Thomson, Global Sales Recruiter for Rosetta Stone and the Founder of Bulls Eye Recruiting. How to Become Workplace Fascinating
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). Last week we talked about whether or not HR should be split into two branches, and this week we're going to talk about how to become workplace fascinating. Of course there are plenty of personality assessments tell you how you see the world. But how does the world see you? What makes you most fascinating, and most valuable to the people around you? You're all about to find out. Over the past two decades of research on communication, this week's guest has found that there are seven different ways to communicate and add value to your "audience." We've taken "The Fascination Advantage" here at the TalentCulture #TChat Show. It's pretty awesome. And we'll give you the opportunity to take it as well! Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we learn about how to become workplace fascinating with this week's guest: Sally Hogshead, creator of The Fascination Advantage™: the world's first personality test that measures what makes someone most engaging to others. Should HR Be Split into Two Branches?
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). Last week we talked about how authentic storytelling in the workplace impacts talent strategies, and this week we're going to talk about whether or not HR in the enterprise should be split into two branches. In fact, one of the hottest topics being discussed at the C-suite level is whether HR should be split into two distinct functions – one that handles administration and one that manages leadership and organization. Research by Bersin by Deloitte supports the recommendation because HR is swamped with administrative tasks. In fact, nearly 50 percent of business and HR leaders surveyed said their companies are "weak" on preparing HR to deliver programs aligned with business needs. The right technology enables HR to scale certain tasks in a way that humans never can, bringing efficiencies to a complex administrative process that can't be achieved otherwise. HR needs to leverage this ability, so it can fulfill a critical role in the organization's business strategy. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we learn about whether HR should be split into two distinct functions with this week's guest: Todd Owens, Chief Executive Officer at TalentWise. How Authentic Storytelling Impacts Talent Strategies
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). Last week we talked about how to manage the softer skills of your personal brand, and this week we're going to talk about how authentic storytelling in the workplace impacts talent strategies. Content marketing will no doubt be a 2015 buzzword. You create content to connect with customers, employees, and potential future employees and everything will be just dandy. Right? But while content is important, it's not just about sharing content. It's about sharing meaningful stories. People don't pay attention to most marketing messages. They pay attention to authentic stories, however. Authentic stories build community (think the TalentCulture #TChat community). And community includes people who tell stories by sharing their experiences, their purposes (or lack thereof) and by dreaming about a goal for the future. Authentic storytelling from leadership and employees impacts recruiting, retention and of course customer acquisition. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we learn about how authentic storytelling in the workplace impacts talent strategies with this week's guest: Christoph Trappe, Career Storyteller and Journalist. How to Manage the Softer Skills of Your Personal Brand
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). Last week we talked about how to maximize the cowbell principle, and this week we're going to talk about managing the softer skills of your personal brand. What rings true today in a world gone social that demands transparency and authenticity is the fact that your reputation is your personal brand. And vice-versa. But with everything so "on" and online virtually all the time, what happened to body language? Nothing actually. In fact, it's more important than ever, because we spend so much time online. Body language conveys everything from confidence to approachability; it's more honest than the spoken word. Literally in the blink of an eye, we can make someone feel quite valued or unceremoniously dismissed. That's why developing our softer skills is the new differentiator. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we learn about how to manage the softer skills of your personal brand with this week's guest: Deborah Thomas-Nininger, Founder of DTN Productions International-Hallmark of Etiquette, a "Reputation Management" training company. How to Maximize The Cowbell Principle
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). Last week we talked about a world gone social and the power of OPEN (Ordinary Person | Extraordinary Network), and this week we're going to talk about the cowbell principle. In fact, we've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cow bell. Really. For individuals, a cowbell is a talent or gift. For businesses, it's a durable competitive advantage. The key to happiness and success is knowing who you are and how you can make other people happy. A cowbell gives your value to people and they love you for it. Helping people and businesses find their true cowbell, develop it and communicate it is what this show is all about. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we learn about how to maximize the cowbell principle with this week's guests: Brian Carter, internationally bestselling author and one of the best known names in digital marketing and social media; and Garrison Wynn, author of the Amazon.com bestseller The REAL Truth About Success and sought after speaker. Both are co-authors of The Cowbell Principle. A World Gone Social and the Power of OPEN
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). Happy New Year! During the last show of 2014, we talked about how to make waves and initiate positive change, and this week we're going to talk about a world gone social and the power of OPEN (Ordinary Person | Extraordinary Network). Thankfully, the Industrial Age is gone, and finally so is autocratic, dictatorial leadership style that came with it. Today's business world has entered a new era—one in which social media has fundamentally changed the way companies innovate, market, scale, build teams, and serve customers. Welcome to a world gone social! Companies that build socially enabled teams and put the customer experience first are the ones with the competitive advantage today. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Making Waves and Positive Change in the World of Work
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). Last week we talked about how to legally leverage social media in the recruitment process, and this week we're going to talk about how to make waves and initiate positive change. We should all step up and be the ones to initiate positive change in the world of work, instilling "wave-making" behaviors in others within their organization. By reinforcing our continuous desire to contribute and make a difference on an individual level, wave-making bridges the gap between that desire and the actions necessary to realize bigger changes and improve employee engagement. Change can be big or small. It is the act of stepping up that makes all the difference, as well as the ripple effect on those around. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman for the last show of 2014 as we learn Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. How to Legally Leverage Social Media in the Recruitment Process
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). Last week we talked about the future of the employee-employer relationship, and this week we're going to talk about how to legally leverage social media in the recruitment process and more. Where's the first place most recruiters go today when screening a candidate? They Google them and more, right? They search for them via social media to see what's up in the virtual world — even if they don't admit it (or admit they based hiring decisions on what they find). The fact is, employers can easily find professional or personal information on a job candidate with just a few clicks. However, alongside that ease come real and rising legal risks that employers must be aware of when researching candidates on a social network or through a search engine. Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we learn about how to legally leverage social media in the recruitment process with this week's guests: Jason Morris, Co-Founder, COO and President of EmployeeScreenIQ; and Nick Fishman, Co-Founder, EVP and CMO of EmployeeScreenIQ. The #TChat Anniversary Show: Enabling the Employee-Employer Social Contract
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). Before Thanksgiving we talked about about the challenges of enabling a talent management strategy with technology, and this week we're going to talk about the future of the employee-employer relationship — and celebrate the TalentCulture #TChat Show's 4-year anniversary! We keep talking incessantly about how bad the relationship is between employees and employers. Yes, we get it. It's bad. But even with the limited solutions that are offered today in the world of work, none has been actionable enough; we just keep playing misery shuffleboard. Our guests this week argue that the key driver of organizational sustainability is the strength of the social contract that develops between an employer and its employees. And the fact that companies can and should recruit, manage, and retain entrepreneurial employees who will make them adaptive and innovative. Oh, and it's the TalentCulture #TChat Show's 4-year anniversary! Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we learn about the future of the employee-employer relationship with this week's guests: Marla Gottschalk, Ph.D., Industrial & Organizational Psychologist and Director of Thought Leadership at Kilberry Leadership Advisors; and Chip Joyce, CEO and Co-founder of Allied Talent. Thank you to our sponsors and partners: Dice, Hootsuite, SAP/SuccessFactors, GreatRated! of Great Place to Work, IBM Smarter Workforce, CareerBuilder, PeopleFluent, Fisher Vista and HRmarketer Insight.
