BC77: Seth Appert - Head Hockey Coach at RPI, The Engineer Way
Seth Appert took over the men’s hockey program at RPI prior to the 2006-07 season. A coach who routinely has one of the toughest schedules in the nation, Appert talks about the importance of the mental game of ice hockey and competing one shift at a time as well as coaching the most important aspect of the game.
Prior to starting his tenure at RPI, Appert was an assistant at Denver and was responsible for signing numerous nationally ranked recruiting classes during his nine years with the Pioneers. Among those he coached or recruited at Denver were the 2006 Hobey Baker Award winner, eight All-Americans, a WCHA Player of the Year, 22 All-WCHA picks, three WCHA Defensive Players of the Year, two WCHA Student-Athletes of the Year and 17 NHL draft picks. The Pioneers averaged over 23 wins per year during his time as an assistant coach and captured two NCAA national championships, three WCHA playoff championships and two WCHA regular-season titles.
Appert was also a four-year letterwinner in the net at Ferris State from 1992-96.

BC44: Mike Bianco - Creating A Program of Excellence & The Mental Game
This weeks guest is Mike Bianco, Head Baseball Coach at The University of Mississippi. Coach Bianco has led the REBS to the 2009 and 2014 SEC Conference championships and a trip to Omaha in 2014. Bianco played and coached at Louisiana State University with quite possibly the greatest mental conditioning coach of all time in 5x NCAA National Championship winning coach and former LSU Athletic Director Skip Bertman.
I have been fortunate to work with Bianco and his program since 2009 and was on staff with him when he was an assistant coach with the Team USA Collegiate National Team in the summer of 2013.
Bianco is one of the greatest motivators in all of collegiate athletics. His use of stories, team building activities, motivational videos and other strategies have helped turn Ole Miss into one of the top programs in the nation year in and year out.
Coach Bianco discusses the importance of training the mental side of the game each and every day and the development of core values within a program that have an impact beyond the game of baseball.
