JOHN LYNSKEY | Subconscious Programming & Setting Your Intent: Mere Mortals Conversation #29

John Lynskey is a Results Coach whose aim is to help people transform their lives through Laws Of Attraction & Subconscious Programming. John's path to coaching began when he was still in school and received advice from his Dad on how to use visualisation to help achieve better grades to get into university. When combining this with setting an intent and clarifying his purpose he realised this tool set could be used to help motivate others into beneficial action. In this conversation Juan and John also touch upon: how to seek out the knowledge that will let you actively improve your life, the need to hold your identity loosely to give the space to change and adapt, actually taking motivation and transforming it into useful actions in the real world, some examples of how John has helped his clients, the law of attraction and John morning affirmations/rituals as well as the benefits of prioritising, reflecting and knowing when you do need help. A super upbeat/positive conversation that we hope can help to make your life better. Why Can't I Break Bad Habits? (Episode #118 - Habits)

Why are habits so strong and so hard to break? In this themed episode Juan and I discuss the topic of 'Habits'. We start off as usual with a definition and a quick dive into whether it is useful to talk about habits in the subconscious or conscious domain. Us Mere Mortals have many habits (good and bad) so we go over some of our favourites and ones that we would like to start implementing in the future. If you are interested in this topic then a great book to read is 'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg. He outlines the fundamental 3 step loop of habits; the cue, routine and reward. These form the basis of the tremendous amount of unconscious actions that we take daily. To finish off the discussion we chat about Kaizen (the Japanese art of small continuous improvement), whether it is useful to think about habits on the fundamental level, the keystone habits that we don't compromise on and why you shouldn't be actively influencing others to create better habits. Consciousness & Virtual Reality (Episode #116 - Meanderings)

In the future will consciousness replace money as a placeholder for value? In this episode of 'Meanderings' Juan and Kyrin discuss: the possibility of virtual reality allowing consciousness to become a commodity, why the attention economy is becoming the most valuable economy, why consciousness isn't already the most valuable item to humanity, how the Mere Mortals will disagree in an argument, deciding whether to resolve or simply avoid a conflict, a couple of real-life examples of disagreements and when it is worth getting into an argument. Gratitude Doesn't Come Easily (Episode #115 - Gratitude)

In this themed episode Juan and Kyrin discuss the topic of 'Gratitude'. As usual they kick off with their MMM's before defining the word. Being thankful doesn't seem to come easily to most people and a lot of the language tends to reflect this. It somewhat needs to be treated as a skill to be acquired, hence the need to 'cultivate' or 'grow' the habit of showing appreciation and returning kindness. The role that gratitude plays in religion also seems to be quite crucial. There is a strong message found in the major religions of returning kindness to one's neighbours and showing thanks to one's god for his bounty. Kyrin made the point that this is perhaps why religion helps form a cohesive social society, much like trust is what allows for economical development. Both Mere Mortals believe that introducing a gratitude practice into one's life is a useful edition and provide some tips on how they personally incorporate it.
