In a year of political turmoil and unrest in many cultures, the 2016 National Conference helped bring some clarity to weighty and confusing topics. Based on Russell Moore’s book, “Onward: Engaging the Culture Without Losing the Gospel,” this event addressed topics from movies to politics to parenting. The first ERLC conference in 2014, “The Gospel, Homosexuality, and the Future of Marriage,” was well received and exceeded expectations. Part of this is because we’re are living in world that is confused about these topics. In early 2016, the ERLC partnered with Focus on the Family to host Evangelicals for Life—a pro-life gathering held in conjunction with the March for Life. In 2014 the ERLC hosted it’s first national conference, titled, “The Gospel, Homosexuality, and the Future of Marriage.” Christopher Yuan shared an inspiring message of redemption, grace and transformation, as he told the story of how the Lord worked through his mother’s persevering prayers. At the 2016 Evangelicals for Life conference, Dr. Russell Moore moderated a panel discussing the future of the pro-life movement.The panelists include Kelly Rosati, Jim Daly, Charmaine Yoest, and Samuel Rodriguez. They give insight into the pro-life movement and offer suggestions for how we can move forward in a gospel-centered manner as we talk about the sanctity of human life. At the 2016 Evangelicals for Life conference, Daniel Darling moderated a panel discussing how to shape a pro-life, whole-life Christian ethic. The panelists included John Stonestreet, Trillia Newbell, Karen Swallow Prior, Emily Colson and Ron Sider. They discuss how being pro-life doesn’t mean championing for unborn life alone, but rather, advocating for life at all stages, regardless of race, age and level of ability. Recent events have left the people of the United States reeling and hurting. Violence and bloodshed has erupted on our streets, revealing the racial tension that still exists today. In 2015, the ERLC hosted a Leadership Summit to address the topic of racial reconciliation. 2015 brought about major changes in the U.S. In the fall, the ERLC hosted an event right after the Supreme Court issued it’s sweeping ruling about same-sex marriage.
