Daniel 6 To respect the variety of ages and stages of life that listen, I have adapted some of this so please go back and read the scriptures yourself including what is appropriate for your family. Today is the last episode in our Daniel series! As we end, we find Daniel in a very scary situation.... in the lion's den. Daniel had done everything right yet it seemed like everything was going wrong. This story reminds us that even though we do the right things, the outcome can still feel wrong. But be encouraged b/c we hear that God never leaves Daniel's side. The apply section discusses that God loves us and is with us on good days and hard days too. Daniel 4:28-37 In our last Daniel episode, episode #240, we heard the king writing a letter explaining a bizarre dream he had. If you missed it, make sure to go back and listen because this episode builds upon it.  The king's dream ends up coming true & God humbles him in this process. We discuss the difference b/n humility and pride and are reminded that God was so patient w/ the king. God offers us this same, loving patience when we ask for his forgiveness. God doesn’t roll his eyes when we ask for forgiveness yet again but instead, he’s so patient, so loving, that he HE wants to hear from us.....bring us  back to Him when we wander off the path b/c He loves us so much! Matthew 28, Luke 23, & John 19 This is perfect for Easter! Jesus is placed in the tomb but he does not stay there? We hear the joyful news of what happens on that 3rd day! Daniel 4:1-27  If you have missed the previous Daniel episodes, I'd recommend you go back and listen  as the stories build upon themselves.  Today, we hear king Nebuchadnezzar have another dream. Daniel explains that this dream is from God and is a warning for the king. This dream is to help teach him a lesson: to stop doing wicked things and be kind & admit that God is the ultimate ruler of the kingdom and not him. We discuss how this applies to a child's life. The kids will  observe areas that we try to set up our own little kingdoms  and act as  king or queen & we end with being comforted by the reality that our all knowing, all loving, never changing God is the ultimate ruler.   Thanks for tuning in to the Daniel series. Romans 3:23 -24 & John 3:16 Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, Parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had, many of them related to Easter. Today, we are doing a special episode as I do my best to answer one of the more complex questions : What did Jesus Save us from. I understand there are a variety of ages and backgrounds who are listening so I have tried to keep it age appropriate for most families.   We learn about: 1. Adam & Eve sinning & how that affects us.  2. We all need Jesus and His grace. Grace is a gift, not earned. 3. Sin separates us from God. We are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ. ***** We will not discuss Hell in this episode. Hell is biblical and should be discussed in your family when it's appropriate. COLOSSIANS 2:13-15 Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had; many of them related to Easter. I am going to do my best to answer PART 2 of the more complex questions :Why Did Jesus Die?  We use a story about two children who disobey the rules and play ball in the house. This ends with a window being broken and the understanding that someone must cover the cost of this mistake. The children realize they can not fix such an expensive mistake and must be forgiven and helped by their parents. Though the parents were not the ones that broke the window,  out of love and their ability to have money, they are able to cover this cost.   We use this example and connect the dots to the Bible that: 1. Our sin is very serious. 2. No human & no amount of money can fix our sins. Jesus is the only one who can save us. He never sinned. 3. Jesus cleaned up the mess we made and absorbed the cost himself when he died on the cross. 4. We all sin and can ask Jesus to forgive us.  Resources for parents:  The Reason for God by Tim Keller. This is an adult book and covers many difficult questions which you can study and then teach your child on their level.   5 Truths About the Death of Jesus  This is an adult article from the Desiring God website. Daniel 3 If you missed last weeks episode, I highly recommend you go back and listen as these will build upon themselves. In today's story we hear king Nebuchadnezzar build a golden statue and demand that everyone must bow down to it.  What will the consequence be if they don't? We may not be asked to bow down to a statue but we must be careful because we too can make other things more important than God.... Just as king Nebuchadnezzar wanted that statue to be more important than God. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego's faith shines brightly in this story. It's easy for us to say "God I'll worship you because you gave me exactly what I wanted today." It's a different feeling when we can say “God I really hope this or that will happen BUT even if it doesn't , I will still love you and worship you." That’s what they did! Even in one of their most frightening experiences, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had their Heavenly Father there with them.  Daniel 2:1-28,46-49 In order to respect each families ages & stages of life I have adapted some of this b/c of the content in Daniel and the time allotment for the episode. So PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family. The King has some confusing dreams and the only one who can explain them is Daniel. Daniel knew this was made possible b/c of God not him, so he made sure God received the credit. The kids are reminded to observe the wonderful things God allows us to do and be grateful versus puffing ourselves up as if it's all b/c of us. Some may think our examples don't seem incredible. God gave Daniel the ability to do something amazing! But the truth is, ours are actually miraculous things! They just seem normal b/c they happen day after day.
