On the heels of the by-election within British Columbia's riding of Burnaby South, a tale of two stories is being told. Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh secured a seat in the House of Commons, less than 2 years after winning his party's federal leadership. The other story being told is that of Maxime Bernier's People's Party of Canada. Despite it's maiden run, the party was able to garner 11% of the overall vote. Now, while that number doesn't seem all that big, it calls into question the bigger picture, that being could Bernier's party make things difficult for Andrew Scheer's Progressive Conservatives in the upcoming federal election? Alex is joined by Teodrose Fikre, co-founder, editor and independent observer, the Ghion Journal, to take a closer look at the case involving Empire actor Jussie Smollett, who was charged with felony disorderly conduct Wednesday evening for allegedly lying to Chicago police on Jan. 29. In the report, the actor, who is openly gay, said he was attacked by two masked men who yelled racist and homophobic slurs at him.
