Camps are finally going to be allowed to open...but the province didn't give them enough time to prepare.
Alex talks with Nino Mattarollo, a retired Ontario Certified Special Eduation Teacher and founder of The Laird House Eco Sports Educational School Camp. They talk about the announcement that the province will enter phase 1 on Friday, Nino needs to rush and hire on staff and find volunteers. The camp is a non-profit which means he also now has to rush to find private and corporate sponsors. The camp was supposed to open last year, but the pandemic put the opening on hold. Registration is also low as many weren’t sure when the province would reopen and if it would be safe for their children. Nino says that if he can’t get his camp fully up and running this summer, then it will have to permanently close its doors.
