The Christmas Charade (Hallmark Channel - 2024)

The movie kicks off with a mysterious situation. A blonde woman delivers a box containing Santa and a microchip. They flee together, and we discover that this is actually a TV show that a woman named Whitney watches intently while eating cereal in her PJs—just like me on Saturday mornings. Her coworker, Rachel, tries to set Whitney up on a date because she thinks Whitney watches too much TV—a bold statement, especially in a movie on a network that starts playing 24/7 Christmas movies two weeks before Halloween. We then meet real-life Secret Agent Josh Dawson, who works for a detective agency and has been undercover for six months with no results. His boss tells him they’re shutting down the operation, but Josh explains that he wants to stop a heist involving a necklace called the Heart of Christmas, worth over $10 million, set to be displayed at a Christmas ball on Christmas Eve. His boss agrees to give him one more chance, but only if he has a partner. So, Agent Keira Tanner is assigned to go undercover as Dawson’s girlfriend.Dawson, wearing a green sweater, agrees to meet with Keira to discuss the case. However, Whitney, who is supposed to be on a blind date with someone in a green sweater, sits down with him first. He jumps right into discussing the case, and Whitney is bewildered. He quickly realizes she’s not who he was supposed to meet, but it’s too late—they’re expected to have dinner with “the mark.” So, he asks Whitney to just play along.Whitney reluctantly agrees but immediately fumbles by telling the couple that she’s a ballroom dancer between jobs. The woman, Patty, then asks Whitney to help plan a ball! The next day, Agent Dawson brings Whitney to his boss, intending to figure out how to remove her from the situation. But the boss sees an opportunity: Whitney has secured regular access to their targets, so she can’t drop out now. However, she’ll need some training.Cue a training montage where Whitney initially struggles but eventually masters everything, from backstory to subtle texting. She’s ready to go!At Patty and Maxwell’s, Patty gives Whitney the lowdown on the necklace while Dawson snoops around. He’s caught by Maxwell, but Maxwell brushes it off and offers him a bottle of wine.Finding no clues, they visit a museum to devise a plan for catching the thieves during the party. The museum guide mentions he once got tricked by a fake painting, giving Whitney an idea: a fake necklace! They find a woman who makes jewelry and can whip up a replica in just a few hours. They stay to watch her work, and Dawson is impressed by the result. In the short time before the party, Whitney decorates Dawson’s apartment for Christmas because, well, you have to.The necklace arrives and is kept in a secure area. Dawson lowers Whitney down to swap the real necklace with the fake one, but the mission fails. Now, they’ll have to try during the actual party. Before the party, Whitney has a game night with her family, and Dawson agrees to join. The game is Christmas charades. Nervous about meeting a girlfriend’s family for the first time, Dawson ends up having fun and winning over the family, who are a bit suspicious of these two lovebirds. It’s party time! When they see each other dressed up, sparks fly. At the party, they’re about to swap the necklaces when Patty suddenly introduces them for a surprise tango. Fortunately, they nail it. Then Whitney’s dad unexpectedly shows up.While they’re talking, the power goes out, and the necklace goes missing. They spot a man with a briefcase and chase him to the roof. Opening the case, they find it’s a decoy. Looking down, they see the museum director escaping with the jewels—and Whitney’s parents have been taken hostage! They rappel down and catch up with the van, only to find that her parents have the situation under control. It turns out her parents used to be in the FBI. They explain that they were suspicious after Whitney rescheduled game night, so they showed up at the party and quickly figured things out. They even secured the real necklace. The movie could end here, but it doesn’t. Whitney feels betrayed by her parents and storms off, upset that they ruined her exciting night. Josh follows her and tries to calm her down, telling her her parents are amazing. She retorts, “What do you know about family?”—a stinger, given that Josh grew up in the foster system. As Whitney mopes, she realizes the painting the museum guide mentioned earlier has been stolen. She suspects Patty and goes to confront her, only to end up in danger. Just as the bad guys are about to capture her, the FBI storms in and saves the day. It’s Christmas Day, and Whitney’s parents arrive with gifts and apologies. She forgives them. Josh shows up, and Whitney gives him a Christmas present—a snow globe. He gives her a replica of the Christmas necklace. Whitney invites Josh to spend Christmas with her family, and they kissssssss as the fake snow snows.   Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? The 5-Year Christmas Party (Hallmark Channel - 2024)

The movie kicks off at a Christmas party—if you can believe it. It’s year one, and Alice walks into a room full of theater kids. It’s the wrap party for a fresh version of A Christmas Carol that Alice created. Alice is a senior in college and is happy to be finishing with a success. She’s surprised to see Max there. She goes up to the rooftop as it’s snowing, as one does, and Max shows up. He tells her how amazing the show was. He tries to explain where he’s been, but she says, “Don’t worry about it.” Just as they’re about to leave, she asks why he decided to talk to her after ignoring her for the last three years. He replies, “I really liked your show and thought you should know.” They’re about to kiss, but she’s like, “Nooo, this isn’t happening.” They awkwardly part ways. The next day, she’s talking to her mom and is shocked to find out that the bookstore closed. She needs a job, so she takes a volunteer (unpaid) position at the theater. To help make ends meet, she picks up a side gig at a catering company. And guess who else works there? Yep, it’s Max. After a party, he helps her take the Christmas tree to her place. She asks if they could recreate the rooftop situation to see what happened; they do, and they kiss. But then she’s like, “Okay, so now we know we’re good at that, but I can’t afford any distractions!”We get a montage of the year. Before we know it, it’s year two. Alice walks into the catering gig, and guess who’s back—it’s Max! While they’re out looking for a tree for a party, he explains that he never meant to ignore her; he was just intimidated by how smart she is. At the party, naturally, it leads to a performance. A bad one, but a performance nonetheless.Alice is shocked when Lisa from the theater shows up. She confides in Max that maybe she lied about “crushing it” at the theater—it was a complete failure. She says, “Volunteering was a lot harder than I expected. It took so much more of my time, and eventually, I just had to work more and stopped showing up.” Max admits he hasn’t booked anything either and is mostly just bartending. When he finds out she’s spending Christmas alone this year, he’s shocked. On their way out, Lisa thanks them for charming her family into joining the board and tells Alice she’s welcome back at the theater anytime. We get another montage of the year: Max texting Alice and her not texting back. Now it’s year three, and we see that Max finally booked a gig—as an elf in a print ad. She sees him and is like, “Oh, sorry for ghosting you,” and he’s like, “It’s really no big deal. We’re friends. Just friends. It’s good.”It’s time to cater together again. Alice’s friend invites her to move to New York, but Alice is like, “Oh no, I couldn’t; I have so much going on here.” Max and Alice have a moment looking at the Christmas tree. They almost hold hands but don’t quite make it. He tells her he has to go back to LA tomorrow for a callback for a big movie!Alice goes to meet with Lisa, who offers her a real job as an assistant director…paid! She immediately says yes and heads back to the Christmas party with her friends, excited. When she realizes which movie Max is up for, she shares her good news, and they celebrate as friends do—with a big kiss. Afterwards, they talk about whether the kiss changes anything. Max says he’d like to give this a shot, but Alice says, “I’d just be a distraction when you’re about to have your big break. Let’s just keep being smart.” Max is sad. Alice is sad. But what can you do?We get another year montage, showing Alice never getting to talk to Max because he’s so busy. It’s now year four, and Alice finds out one of the parties they’re catering is a celebration for Max’s movie, thrown by his parents. At the party, Max tries to apologize for Alice ghosting him, but he’s like, “It’s fine.” Clearly not wanting to have this conversation, she tries to go inside and accidentally spills wine all over Daphne Day, his co-star and a superstar. Alice has an idea—they put Daphne to work with an apron, and it ends up being a smash hit with the press. Alice sees Max and Daphne looking at the pictures together—very closely, I might add—and feels a bit jealous. After the party, Max tells Alice he’s not dating Daphne. In fact, they barely like each other and are just doing it for the press. Alice loves it. She invites Max to come over for Christmas dinner. They spend the night watching Christmas movies, wake up, and spend the day laughing and having fun. He asks her to come with him to LA for the premiere—and also just for life. He says he’s fallen so in love with her. She says she needs to think about it and leaves, but later she says yes!Just as she’s about to leave, she gets a call from Lisa. Lisa wants her to basically run the theater. Alice suggests they try long-distance, but Max says, “If we wanted to try that, we would have by now. We can’t keep doing this year after year. We can’t keep waiting.”We get another montage of the year, showing Alice working hard at the theater and loving life. It’s Christmas again, and naturally, Max shows up to watch the show…and to cater. Alice sees him at a Christmas party, and he’s acting all weird. She tells him she loves him, and he tells her to break a leg.The show is a hit, but afterward, she’s not happy, and it’s freaking her out. This is all she’s ever wanted. She talks to her mom, who tells her to follow her heart. Alice is told to take some sliders out to the alley, where Max is waiting. They both share that success would be better if they could share it together…just like Christmas. They kiss and decide to make it work!  Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? This Time Each Year (Hallmark Mystery - 2024)

The movie kicks off with a montage of a couple taking Christmas card pictures together over the years. It’s the McCaul family, and they are loving each other until 2023, when Kevin shows up late, and it’s clear his wife Lauren is very annoyed.Cut to the present day, and Kevin and Lauren are separated. You hate to see it; you also hate to see sober Kevin get fired from his bar job. That’s right…bar job. Apparently his sobriety was a liability. After that, they all meet up at Kevin’s family’s house. Kevin and Lauren talk about working together to make sure that their son Charlie still has a great Christmas. When Lauren asks Kevin how work is going, he says, “Good!” but doesn’t tell her he was fired. That secret doesn’t last long, though, as his mom spills the beans. Lauren is upset and goes to leave. Kevin tries to stop her, and it becomes clear that part of their problems stem from the financial hardship of buying their dream home, which ended up being a money pit.Lauren is eating cookies in bed (which spoke to me), when she gets a call from her mom, who tells her she’s coming to visit for Christmas. Uh oh – she doesn’t know about the separation. So Lauren goes to ask Kevin if he’d be willing to help keep it a secret from her mom, and he agrees to a fake Christmas in exchange for them going back to couples therapy and going on their annual Christmas date together.Kevin shows up, says hi to Lauren’s mom, and uses the opportunity to kiss Lauren. They go to therapy, where Lauren shares how her mother’s judgment affected her growing up as “Little Miss Mess” because she never finished what she started. This is why she doesn’t want her mom to know about the separation or that the dream house isn’t working out.Lauren’s mom, Janet, was only supposed to be there for one day because she had a Christmas cruise planned – but it turns out the cruise was fake! They decide to keep going with the lie, but it doesn’t last long. At the ice skating rink, Kevin is late and is acting sketchy. Overwhelmed with emotion, Lauren ends up telling Janet the truth. They all go to a community center gingerbread house competition – montage time! At the contest, Kevin finds out that Lauren is in the process of getting the house ready to sell. But when Kevin meets Jason, the real estate agent Lauren is considering, he gets a little jealous and jumps headfirst into helping with the house that that Lauren doesn’t have alone time with Jason.Later, Kevin’s dad has to go to the hospital, and Kevin uses the moment to get serious, promising his dad that he’ll help out more because he wants to be “Helper of the Week.”Kevin gets a job at a counselor’s office. His goal is to become a counselor because, again, he wants that “Helper of the Week” status, but for now, he’ll just be working in the office.Kevin forgets about their Christmas date, so he quickly sets up a projector in the “dream home” and decorates it for Christmas. He plays Lauren’s favorite movie, they laugh, eat Chinese food, and slow dance to some Frank Sinatra. It’s the kind of moment that brings two people together – until Lauren’s mother’s angel ornament breaks. Lauren is devastated because she feels she’ll always be seen as a “Little Miss Messy” daughter, but she comes clean to her mom.Just then, the handsome real estate agent shows up to tell Lauren about an offer on the house and asks her out for dinner. Kevin assumes it’s a date and tells Janet how being called “Little Miss Mess” affected Lauren.Janet apologizes to Lauren for the “Little Miss Mess” nickname, explaining she only called her that because her room was always a mess. She then shows her that she fixed the angel ornament. Lauren remarks that it’s even better than before. Janet says, “Instead of hiding imperfections, you use them to add to the beauty.”Lauren rushes to find Kevin at the church, but he’s just left to do some deliveries. So, she teams up with his family, and after church, they drop him off at the dream house, where she tells him she no longer wants to just “fix things” but to work on growing together. They share a big kiss.Cut to Christmas morning, and they’re all together, happy and content. Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show?
