How to Get Better at Saying No

I used to hate saying no to people, especially early on in my career. I felt like I was letting someone down, then I'd get in my head and wonder if I was missing out on an opportunity, or if people would perceive me as a bitch (funny how that men don't think this way, right?) Once I started evaluating my energy, everything changed. I now check in with myself regularly and ask myself how I'm feeling. Do I feel drained? Or do I feel energized? And if I'm drained, what's the cause? Typically it's because I'm overextending myself. In this episode, I'm sharing practical tips on how to start saying no to others so you can start saying yes to yourself. Grab a notebook, because you'll want to take notes! Rewriting Your Story and Being Happy "Even" After Divorce with Renee Bauer

So many women are going through divorce, but so few are actually talking about it. Although women are more empowered than ever, it seems as though the topic of divorce has become somewhat taboo, especially in this world of heavily filtered, Instagram-perfect relationships and families. In today's episode, I'm chatting with award-winning divorce attorney, published author, and founder of the Connecticut family law firm, Bauer Law Group. With almost two decades of experience, Renée is committed to empowering all women to redefine their sense of peace and purpose in their new life. Renée's insights are sought after by local and regional media outlets, podcasts, and conferences where she speaks on co-parenting, blended family dynamics, relationships, and the art of reinvention. She is host of the Happy Even After Podcast and creator of the d-course, teaching women how to get through their divorce with their sanity intact so they can find their own version of Happy Even After. She's also been divorced twice herself, so Renee brings a personal spin to the topic along with her professional experience. You're going to love this one. Connect with Renee here. Channeling Your Unapologetic Voice

>>Join the Style Your Mind Academy here. When was the last time you had a difficult conversation? Did you feel confident in the way you expressed yourself? When was the last time you shared your views on something without second-guessing yourself or worrying about what someone else thought? When was the last time you spoke up in a meeting, set a clear boundary with someone, or asserted yourself in an uncomfortable situation? Many women struggle with using their voice. Some research suggests that women apologize when we really should be direct because we worry about coming off as rude, or hurting someone's feelings. According to a study in the journal of Psychological Science, women have a much lower threshold for what constitutes offensive behavior. In turn, this causes us to apologize more - even when we should be assertive. In this short but powerful episode, I'm going to share some tips on how to get crystal clear about who you are, what's important to you, and how to put it all out there without the fear and without the guilt. Continue this conversation in the Style Your Mind Academy. Join us here.
