What Got You There with Sean DeLaney: Beneath the Surface
A podcast for high performers, deep thinkers, and those who refuse to live on autopilot.
Every week, Sean DeLaney explores the ideas that don't just make you better at what you do — but more connected to who you are.
Through solo episodes and long-form conversations with world-class performers, thinkers, and creators, we go beneath the surface of success to ask the questions most people avoid:
What if the version of you the world rewards… isn't the version that makes you feel alive?
Can ambition and inner peace coexist?
How do you perform at your best — without abandoning yourself in the process?
This show is a space to get honest. To let go of old scripts. To reconnect with what actually matters. And to explore how we live, create, lead, and perform — from the inside out.
Not just for more success. But for deeper presence. Greater freedom. And a life that breathes.

#147 Solo Episode- Ignite Creativity with Lateral Thinking
Edward de Bono came up with the term "lateral thinking' back in 1967, linking it to humor. We find most jokes funny because they connect unexpected ideas with topics we already know. On this solo episode Sean discusses one of his approaches to often tap into my creative side and that is through LATERAL THINKING. Lateral thinking is the process of using information to bring about creativity and insight. Lateral thinking can be learned, practiced and used. Unlike critical thinking, which seeks errors and attempts to fix them, lateral thinking is about moving from one known idea and leaping forward to create new ideas. *Questions for the solo podcast email info@whatgotyouthere.com* Subscribe to the Newsletter- https://bit.ly/2RH3eaD Get the Latest from Sean right here - https://bit.ly/2RH3eaD Contact us: Whatgotyouthere Exclusive opportunities: http://whatgotyouthere.com/newsletters-and-sponsors/ Intro/Outro music by Justin Great- http://justingreat.com/ Audio Engineer- Brian Lapres

Have you ever worried that you might have too many interests? Maybe you feel like your'e not on the "right" path. Well, you might just be a generalist! On this episode David uncovers some of the myths behind elite performance. He discovered that in most fields — especially those that are complex and unpredictable — generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel. Generalists often find their path late, and they juggle many interests rather than focusing on one. They're also more creative, more agile, and able to make connections their more specialized peers can't see.
