The Motherkind Podcast
Zoe Blaskey
Motherkind is the podcast for women who know that motherhood changes everything — and want to grow forward, not “bounce back”.
Hosted by Zoe Blaskey, Motherkind explores the profound personal, emotional and professional transformation that happens when you become a mother. This is a space for women navigating the wild, identity-shifting years of motherhood who want to reclaim confidence, redefine ambition, and build a life that works for who they are now.
Each week, Zoe sits down with world-leading experts, thought leaders, psychologists, authors and well-known figures to unpack the real experiences of modern motherhood — from matrescence and identity loss to confidence, boundaries, work, relationships and self-worth. Expect honest conversations, evidence-based insight and practical tools that help you move through this season with clarity and strength.
Motherkind is not about doing more, fixing yourself, or returning to who you were before children. It’s about becoming who you are now — with intention, compassion and growth.
If you’re a mother who wants to feel more like herself again — confident, grounded and excited about what’s next — this is your place.
Motherkind: for the woman behind the mother.

The power of surrender with Nicky Clinch
This week’s episode is a special one with Nicky Clinch. Nicky is a maturation coach & facilitator, integrative holistic counsellor, author, mentor & CEO. She is also one of my very dearest friends. We recorded this episode together to celebrate the release of her first book Surrender.
In the book she shares many inspiring stories including her own about what it means to let go of who we have told ourselves we should be in the world and begin to explore who we actually are. Nicky calls this the process of surrender.
We talk a lot about her marriage in this episode. Unbelievably, through the process of writing this book about how to surrender and grow into our truest selves, her marriage broke down. It is a very moving, raw and courageous story with an extraordinary outcome.
We also talk about transitioning out of lockdown. She emigrated to New Zealand while writing this book. She shares what it has been like for her two young children coming out of lockdown. We have what I feel is a useful conversation about how we can support ourselves and our children as we in the UK are transitioning out of lockdown.
Please do check out her new book Surrender it is out on the first of June and available for pre-order. I have ordered several books for my friends.
We talk about:
- Why the book is called Surrender
- The basis of her repaired marriage
- How her marriage was mirroring her childhood
- What does it mean to let go of pictures
- Why living in alignment is so important
- How to break free from our stories
- How to come out of lockdown

The exhausted person's guide to thrive with Selina Barker
Welcome to another episode of the Motherkind podcast. As mothers, we’ve held a lot this past year. I hear almost every day stories of you feeling exhausted, low of energy, and burnt out.
My guest this week, Selina Barker, says that we don’t need to accept that as our status quo and we have so much more power to change how we feel than we think we do.
She says that learning to manage her own energy, now means that she feels calmer, more grounded, and more energised than even before her pre-child self. And that’s what this episode can offer you too.
This episode is full of practical tools and ideas. It’s quite a big promise but I do believe that if you put into practice at least 1 or 2 of the suggestions that Selina shares you will experience a difference.
My invitation to you, then, is to actually apply what you learn from this episode and let me know how you get on.
We talk about:
- How does someone know the difference between feeling burnt-out vs knackered
- Who her book Burnt Out is for
- What got Selina fired up about burn-out
- How to break the burn-out cycle
- How managing your energy unleashes your best work
- Loads of tips and tools to recharge your batteries

A radical approach to marriage with Kaley and Nate Klemp
It is well documented that times of dramatic societal change, like the one we are in now, can either undo relationships or strengthen them. My guests this week are married couple Kaley and Nick Klemp and they found their relationship nearly undone to the point of break-up because of power struggles they were experiencing over trying to make things fair.
So they decided to try a new approach which they call the 80/80 Marriage. The idea is that each person gives 80% as opposed to the traditional 50%, which is what they call radical generosity. It’s based on giving more than required. It’s not based on traditional gender roles or this idea of fairness.
You may be thinking I am barely able to give 50%. How can you be suggesting we give more?
I hear you on that and I do challenge them on that exact point. Their answer was fascinating.
This is a model that rather than being based on what’s best for me, asks what’s best for us. Simple but quite radical if you think about what that might mean.
I cannot wait to hear what you think about this idea. Would you be willing to give it a go? What difference do you think it might make in your marriage or any relationship?
We talk about:
- What is an 80/80 marriage?
- Why the 50/50 marriage almost destroyed their marriage
- How equality left them feeling resentful in the marriage
- What is the 80/50 hangover
- How has the Pandemic intersected with the 80/80 concept
- What does radical generosity look like in a marriage
- Letting go of the scorecard and transitioning beyond resentment
- How to balance your professional pursuits
- How their marriage feels today
- Tools that make a difference
As always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram, so come and join us there.

Why your childhood still matters today with Stephanie Stahl
Welcome to this week’s episode. As you know if you are a regular listener to this podcast, what we experience in our childhood unconsciously shapes and determines our entire approach to life as adults. Once we know this, it gives us something very powerful. And that is choice. Once we have a choice to become aware of our unconscious belief patterns and where they come from in our childhood, then we can change them.
I find that the most exciting thing in the world. Regardless of how you were parented or how your early experiences were you have the power to change how you show up in parenthood. And I believe that is whole, full of love, and infinite potential.
And that is what this week’s episode is all about. It will show you how to connect to your childhood experiences if you want to enact change as an adult. If you are getting stuck it could be because of something that happened in your childhood.
Stephanie Stahl is known as Germany’s psycho-therapist superstar. She is one of Germany's top psychologists and authors on how to confront your past, trauma, fear and shame and live more authentically. She has written 10 books. Her latest one, the Child in You, is brilliant. It’s been a multimillion best seller in Europe and it’s about to be released in the UK.
I loved how practical the book is. Super simple yet transformational. I love this episode and hope you do too.
We talk about:
- What your inner child is
- Why it is important and why you should care
- How to connect with your childhood experiences
- How the inner shadow child can manifest in adulthood

Why it's time to rethink what being a 'good' mother means with Heather Chauvin
My guest on this week’s episode wants you to know that you are worthy of living a life that feels good. She also wants you to know that you are capable of achieving that. But you need to make a conscious decision about how you show up for yourself.
My guest is Heather Chauvin and after her youngest son was born she was diagnosed with stage four cancer. She shares how that really tough experience showed her how far away she was from living the life she actually wanted.
Before going through treatment she decided that if she did survive, surviving wasn’t going to be good enough anymore. She wanted to feel alive.
Well, she did survive that experience and she consciously started to re-parent herself and everything began to change in her life. She noticed everything in her life changed especially her children’s behavior.
I love this episode it is such an incredible story.
Her message is don’t wait. This episode is inspiring and also challenging at times because she invites us to questions our lives. Are we living or surviving? I hope you really enjoy it.
We talk about:
- How parenting is personal growth on steroids
- What her new book Dying to be a Good Mother is actually about?
- Her driving force

- What is energetic time management
- What does it mean to feel alive?

- Red, Green and Yellow zones to live by

In a world of uncertainty - the one thing you can control with Marisa Peer
My guest this week says we are all born feeling enough, with an innate sense of esteem and confidence. And our job if we want to live a fulfilled life, is to get back to that place where we are enough just as we are.
In this episode, I’m talking about the power of the mind with Marisa Peer. She’s been named the UKs #1 therapist as voted by Tatler Magazine and has spent over three decades treating a client list that includes international superstars, CEOs, Royalty, and Olympic athletes.
Her approach is known as Rapid Transformational Therapy. It’s a mind optimisation science that completely transforms a person’s way of thinking and therefore living - in just as little as 1 or 2 sessions.
I have wanted to talk with Marisa for a long time, and this is an important time to have Marisa on the podcast.
Right now there is a lot of uncertainty for parents, yet Marisa has some simple and transformative ways to use our mind to change our experience. I’m excited for you to hear this episode.
We talk about:
- the power of what we say to ourselves
- simple ways to use our mind to change our experience
- the way you feel about everything is based on just two things
- how to speak to yourself
- the three Ps to evaluate any situation
- how can we give ourselves certainty
- the power of rewards
- the power of ‘I am enough’
As always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram, so come and join us there.

The virtues of separation with Amy Ransom
My guest on this episode believes we need to reframe the narrative that a breakup is the end of something and instead view it as the start of your journey to self-realisation.
Amy Ransom is a writer, blogger and author of several books, including The New Mum’s Notebook and her newest release The Soul-Soaring Virtues of Separation.
Amy is passionate about spreading the word that the end of a relationship doesn't have to mean despair. Separation can be the enabler to live a more authentic and joyful life. In 2016 she separated from her husband with 3 small children and it turned out to be her most positive experience yet.
This episode isn’t just about separation though, I believe she is offering a process that’s useful for anyone contemplating big change.
We talk about:
- The surprising way her marriage ended
- The aftermath of early separation
- How to discover lost parts of your self
- The process for any big change
