The second part of this lecture shows us what it truly means to have trust in Allah and that in true submission to Him lie the keys to our own benefit and salvation. Prophet Ibrahim (AS) is willing to slaughter his son if it pleases Allah and knows the wisdom behind it is inconceivable and beyond his comprehension, yet his trust and faith in Allah makes him not hesitate. It shows the value Islam places on a mother, in the story of Hajar (AS) and Ismail (AS). The result is the building of the Ka’bah and the unity of the world 5000 years on, manifesting the symbol of the oneness of Allah, unity and brotherhood and the true meaning of Islam.

An atheist once asked me why does he get this deep sense of calling out to God if he imagines himself shipwrecked and stuck in the middle of the sea? Even an atheist asks. We all ask the same question. Some make up their own beliefs, others hold on to a supernatural deity or superstitious belief to make sense of this inner calling. The young Prophet Ibrahim (AS) endures with the backlash of holding on to this inner truth which makes him grow in intelligence and powerful convictions, yet which rattle his people’s beliefs and question themselves. It also connects with us showing the hardships of life such as domestic and family abuse, bullying, plots of haters and how Allah never leaves our side if we stick to Him.
