We are in this weak position – facing prosecutions for political speech – because of the failure of our movement to influence power when it had the chance. Today, I warn my colleagues that they must have a plan on how we are going to fight the weaponization and prosecution of Trump. There is no better solution than Trump pressuring McCarthy to defund the prosecutions in the budget bills. Look no farther than the conservative media’s treatment of DeSantis and Rep. Byron Donalds dumping on him for actually revamping the African-American studies curriculum in Florida. Today, I provide the Rosetta stone for why red states aren’t red states. It boils down to the fact that even conservatives are terrified of corporate politics and identity politics. DeSantis has slain both of them and is the first to do so in our lifetime. Rather than celebrating that success, they pile on against him. This is why we are where we are. At the end, I discuss the latest economic news and how we have a permanent, fake economy boxing us out of the American dream. Today, we take a long look at how we got to a point where conservatives are so subversive to their own stated goals. I’m joined by Steve Deace, who contends that fundamentally there is nothing new about the Trump idolatry. Because conservative media was always an industry designed to give the Right what they are looking for rather than acting as leaders, the movement was never focused on outcomes. He believes we do not have a long-term future, and that is why our colleagues don’t care to even think about outcomes. They have acculturated our people into elevating symbolism over substance and reactionary politics over outcomes. Every conservative complains about the weaponization of the FBI, but seven months into GOP control of the House, what has come of all of these hearings? We’re joined today by FBI whistleblower Steve Friend, a 12-year FBI veteran who quit his job to warn about the political targeting. Friend fears that GOP House members are more concerned about sound bites and fundraising than about actually dealing with the problem. He perfectly identified the problem with the FBI quota system, career bureaucrats, and the culture at the agency. Friend also has a plan to defund the specific policies and offices that are most harmful. He believes that FBI agents need to be disarmed and just serve as an investigatory backstop to local law enforcement. We are stuck with the following quandary: We believe in free markets, but we don’t have one. So if we merely hold back from using government power when we assume office, we will preserve the current anti-market monopolies. On the other hand, we can’t have unbridled populism, which invariably lands in the same despotic place. Next, we’re joined by civil rights attorney Brian Fest of We the Patriots USA who warns that even if you can afford a family, the government is making it easier to take away your kids. He details the latest case of medical kidnapping where red-state Missouri government officials have taken away four kids from Amanda and Paul Guidry for using a treatment for autism the medical profession dislikes. There is no evidence of any harm to the child, nor is the government alleging it, yet officials were able to remove the kids without any due process.
