Escaping NXIVM w/ Catherine Oxenberg Re-Release - S2E4pt1
IndoctriNation presents its first re-release from 10 months ago, when Rachel was joined by Catherine Oxenberg who had been fighting to pull her daughter away from the cult NXIVM. They discuss her book, Captive, and her daughter India's experience during and after leaving the group.
Run by Keith Raniere, who was just convicted on all charges on June 19, 2019, the organization was heavily bankrolled by billionaire Seagram's heiress Clare Bronfman and others. Catherine consulted Rachel after discovering that her daughter was recruited into the secret upper-echelon called "DOS", where its members were nearly starved and branded.
There will be a follow-up episode with Catherine soon!
Stay tuned, Before You Go: Explore the struggle of stepping in as a parent to an adult who is being manipulated by undue influence. Rachel encourages people who care about their loved ones in compromising situations to ask hard questions, even if it means being seen as critical.

"You Only Know What You Know" w/ April, ex-Scientology - S3E15pt1
April’s former fear of psychology, medication, therapy, and even yoga were ingrained from a young age as she grew up in the Church of Scientology. She was taught to view mental health specialists as people who only wanted to capitalize on other people’s problems, and issue brainwashing medications.
Scientology auditing replaced programs that could be helpful, and instead used their power to take advantage of the participants’ fears and need for acceptance. Rachel and April discuss the cause of epidemic suicide in young people who have no one to turn to outside of an abusive organization, after going through behavior modifications.
Stay tuned, Before You Go: Rachel offers advice for breaking the cycle of manipulation when an abuser refuses to acknowledge their role. She encourages those who feel guilty for speaking up or taking action to be confident in their critical thinking skills.

To Err Is Human, To Forgive Divine w/ Chanon Bloch on post-Apartheid - S3E13pt2
This episode, titled after the Alexander Pope quote, is a small component to a deeply thought out response from Chanon Bloch and Rachel. After receiving large amounts of both positive and negative comments, the two respond to the backlash of their first episode (link below) by pointing out that this is precisely how a majority can continue to remain indoctrinated.
Using South Africa's apartheid as his personal example, Chanon opened up a few weeks ago and challenged listeners to examine their own biases and behavior. Challenging thoughts by nature are not easy to accept, and are easily confused as a threat. He believes indoctrinated prejudice is a force that must be conquered in order to fully hold ourselves accountable; breaking and ending biased views instead of allowing them to manifest a new form.

National Racism and Fear w/ Chanon Bloch, on post-Apartheid - S3E13
CW: racism
Chanon Bloch takes our show in a new direction. Growing up in the peak of Apartheid (born 1957), he reflects on his childhood to unravel the embedded racism left behind by colonialism. He details, for the first time on this show, how racism is indoctrinated; through his experience growing up as a white man in South African society, with indentured servants. Dividing his own biases from reality, Chanon emphasizes the importance of taking the time to question any assumptions or fears that one may have, as well as their origins.
Stay tuned, Before You Go: Rachel details her unsettling trip to South Africa, "post-Apartheid".

If Hubbard Didn't Write It, It's Not True w/ Joey Chait, ex-Scientology - S3E12pt2
Joey continues telling his story; presenting an internal system that is morally falling apart on itself. He shares details from the intense, intrusive Scientology auditing process. This included a mandatory HIV test -- even though he had no sexual history -- and being forced to read L. Ron Hubbard's deeply prejudiced science fiction novels, among other therapies, as punishment. This group has a history of censoring their members' search bars; shielding them from outside opinions and "exclusive knowledge". Joey speaks about coping with his experience in Scientology by hearing and sharing stories with survivors.
Stay Tuned, Before You Go: Rachel contemplates how being made to suppress your emotions and natural reactions can make you afraid of them.

Crossing the Bridge w/ Joey Chait, ex-Scientology - S3E12pt1
Joey Chait was born into Scientology-- but this belief system did not welcome him as is. Though his parents were high in the ranks and had crossed the "bridge to total freedom", he was interrogated in deliberations 8 hours a day, for two months, because he had shown signs of being gay. His interest in exploring and accepting his sexuality was suppressed; like many children who are finding their own way, without familial support.
Stay tuned, Before You Go: Rachel shares a personal story about exploring and communicating your feelings through interactions with your family, as a young person. She reminds us that growing up and finding your identity may not always be easy, but it should bring you confidence and joy.

Charisma over Content w/ Ron Burks, ex-Gold Coast Covenant Church - S3E11pt2
The Gold Coast Covenant "Church" had 50,000 members at the time Ron Burks was among the congregation; and it still exists today by twisting beloved verses from the Bible. An organization that prioritizes leaders on charisma rather than content. After 10 years of doubting what he knew was right for himself-- and speaking in tongues for 8hrs a day-- Ron asked himself the questions he needed to find his freedom.
Stay Tuned, Before You Go: Rachel describes her experience meeting the Mother, Wife, and Brother of God.

Accepting Your Deception w/ Ron Burks, ex-Gold Coast Covenant Church - S3E11pt1
Working as a substance abuse and mental health counsellor, Ron Burks began to draw neurological connections between reactions to reward, addiction, and being a part of a group. He challenged the belief system of his "church" and discovered double standards between the rules made by his leaders and the Christian-leaning congregation.
Before You Go: Rachel talks about the power of information, and why oppressors withhold it
