Pro Champs Recap, Waiting for WUC, Reset Theory Ramblings, O/D Styles | Ep 61

Introducing our new Pod Practice Tees! This is a limited release. We had a really small quantity of each design printed. We'll get them listed and include a link to the store in the description once that's done. Ordering one is a great way to support the podcast. Proceeds will help us dedicate more time to create instructional content. We recorded the first part of the episode before WUC ended so we pulled that part of the recording out and decided to wait for Quinn to get back before we recap Worlds. Instead, we decided to get a little nerdy about resets. Get your pencils out... or skip to 39:25 if you're not interested. We also recap our Pro Champs tournament win, talk about bringing Grant Lindsley into the fold, answer a few listener questions about the way we play defense, what a spread offense is, and overall styles of offense/defense. Don't forget to check out our BE Ultimate Playbook Play of the Week where we discuss DIG's sidestack initiation. 0:00 - Intro 1:20 - Pod Practice Tees 5:11 - Reset Theory Ramblings 39:25 - Day 1 Pro Champs Champs 46:36 - Integrating Grand Lindsley 52:13 - Day 2 Pro Champs 56:20 - Turnover Free Semis 58:10 - Day 3, Finals 1:07:43 - Graces of Club 1:15:40 - Containing vs Getting Blocks 1:22:02 - What is Spread Offense? 1:28:35 - Previewing O/D Styles 1:32:18 - BE Ultimate Playbook Support the Pod: https://ko-fi.com/podpractice Pod Practice BE Ultimate Store: https://shop.beultimate.com/collections/pod-practice-podcast Download The Playbook: https://betterthanever.beultimate.com/the-playbook-info More from Pod Practice: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/podpractice_pod YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@podpractice_pod Email: show@podpracticepod.com Shop BE Ultimate: https://beultimate.com/ Kikko Socks: https://kikkosocks.com/ Use discount code: POD15 for 15% off your next order.

Calvin Brown of Cal Poly SLO and USA Mixed | Ep 56

This episode was recorded on June 11th. Calvin Brown is one of the best young throwers in the game. He helped lead Cal Poly SLO to a Finals appearance at College Nationals after taking down the 3 time defending champs, North Carolina Darkside in semifinals. Down 12-8, SLOCORE went on a 7-1 run to win 15-13 in large part because of Calvin's ability to throw through the wind and rain, and a clutch block at 13-13. BMO also had two amazing throwers of their own in Leo Gordon and Jacques Nissen. Calvin gives us some insight on the difference of style in SLO and Brown. BMO is more known for shorter, dominator movement while SLOCORE is more aggressive in the deep game. Staying on Top - 4x National Champs: Allison Reilly and Emily Przykucki of UNC Pleiades | Ep 55

Jump to 41:49 to listen to our conversation with 4x Defending Champs: Allison Reilly and Emily Przykucki of UNC Pleiades. We think you'll learn a lot about what Championship teams focus on the most to stay on top. It starts with culture and loving hard work. It also takes a little bit of luck. As we talked it became clear that luck is often the manifestation of a ton of preparation, and Pleiades is more prepared than any other team in the country. Certainly more prepared than any team we've been involved with. We were blown away to learn that neither Alli nor Kooski started playing until they got to UNC, because they speak about the game like 15 year club veterans. You can only learn that much that fast through hard work and dedication, but they credit a lot of their rapid development to the culture of Pleiades and Coach Jessi Jones. Before we talked to Alli and Kooski, Quinn gave us some updates on Team USA and Windmill Windup and how it felt to play his first Summit game of the year. Shoutouts: Shoutout to Coach Mary Rippe for connecting us with Alli and Kooski. Shout to everyone who said hi to Quinn at Windmill. Especially our boy, IHACKER! It means a lot to know people are listening. We appreciate you more than you know. Shoutout to Colorado Cutthroat! Mike played against the U-20 Boys team at Solstice with Johnny Walker. The O-40 team vs the U-20 team. Walker was down the whole game by a couple breaks and finally clawed back to save some remaining pride. BE Ultimate Playbook + Thomas Edmonds + Oak/SLC Road Trip Recap | Ep 54

We're on the road again in Madison and Minnesota this weekend, but Matty, Kins, and Mike recap last week's Oakland/Salt Lake City road trip. It's a gauntlet of a trip. The Spiders and Shred are two of the most physical teams in the league. The team had some ups and downs, bonded, and came home with a win. We talk about the challenges of a double header weekend in the UFA, and the impact we can have on our team negatively and positively with our body language and eye contact. Having fun is often a choice, but not always an easy one. Thomas Edmonds also joins us to talk National Team, learning new systems, and share stories. We recorded his segment about 10 days ago. As we release this episode, he and Quinn are competing with USA Men's National Team at Windmill Windup. Edmonds is a dual Canadian and American citizen and chose to play with the American team. He has been a well known player for many years for Pittsburgh Temper. In 2023 he joined DC Truckstop and DC Breeze and had an enormous impact for both teams. We're also launching our recurring segment with BE Ultimate a little more officially this week. Thomas goes over a few pull plays that DC Breeze runs, and gives us some insight on what he looks for. Gold for Pleiades & BMo, Mamabird, Weather, Dawn Culton, Safety, Mental - College Nationals | Ep 53

Another Nationals in the books. After a rocky start with the weather, teams made the most out of the situation. Mike was out there with Mamabird. Quinn and Kins were back home following along. Should USAU have a better plan for weather? Would Brown's style work at higher levels? Did Dawn have the best college career of all time? Should teams ever have to play 4 Nationals level games in one day? How do teams prepare mentally for big games?
