As heart-centred leaders, it is not defeat that should concern us, but success. Defeat is an inward opportunity to grow. Success is an inward opportunity to ground.

Men need a balance between their heart and mind. A lover and a warrior. A warrior with grace, mercy and compassion. For good things do not come from a man armed with a sword who can't dance.

Kahlil Gibran - Then the priestess said, Speak to us of Prayer.      And he answered, saying:      You pray in your distress and in your need; would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance.            For what is prayer but the expansion of yourself into the living ether?      And if it is for your comfort to pour your darkness into space, it is also for your delight to pour forth the dawning of your heart.      And if you cannot but weep when your soul summons you to prayer, she should spur you again and yet again, though weeping, until you shall come laughing. Can we grateful in the valleys? Grateful in the darkness? or as Brandon Lake says.. sing through the fire and worship from the lions den... even when it doesn’t make sense. Pour your darkness into space and delight in pouring forth the dawning of your heart.

Heart-centred leaders who lead with love need to ensure they lead from love and no for love. They need an awareness of the hidden power dynamics at play in their leadership. They need to be aware of their needs and the needs of those they lead. The leader needs to make sure their followers do not look to them as the source of love but are instead directed inward to themselves as the source of that with which they seek.

At our stage of heart-centred development do not be surprised if worldly success doesn’t concern you. There comes a point in the evolution of every soul where the main concern of the soul no longer becomes the survival of the body but growth of the spirit. No long are we driven by worldly attainment of success but by the realisation of self. Life isn’t about what we do with our body. It’s about who we being. We’re not here to say do things in order to be happy but to be happy while we are doing things.
