Dr. Ferracane earned his Ph.D. in Biological Materials from Northwestern University. He is a founding fellow and past-President of the Academy of Dental Materials. He is a past-President of the American Association for Dental Research. He is the recipient of the Wilmer Souder Award from the Dental Materials Group of the IADR, the Founders Award from the Academy of Dental Materials, and the Hollenback Award from the Academy of Operative Dentistry. He is an honorary member of the American College of Dentists and the Oregon Dental Association. He has authored or co-authored several textbooks on dental materials and operative dentistry, and has published extensively on biomaterials. His research is funded by the NIH/NIDCR as well as private industry. He also is actively involved in the establishment and operation of networks designed to conduct dental clinical research in the private practice setting.

He is an active consultant and product evaluator to several dental manufacturers in the area of new product development and refinement. He is an Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials, at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental Branch at Houston, Texas. He has earned his fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics. Dr. Terry is the founder and CEO of the Institute of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry. He maintains a private practice in Houston, Texas emphasizing aesthetic and restorative dentistry.

Cone is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and completed a three-year Prosthodontic residency program while serving in the United States Army before being honorably discharged as a field grade officer in the rank of Major. In addition to achieving board certification and diplomate status within his specialty, Dr. Cone has also successfully challenged all the requirements necessary to earn his designation as a Certified Dental Technician. Currently, Dr. Cone's career in civilian life revolves around his dual role as the owner of Nuance Dental Specialists, a private practice dental clinic limited to prosthetic dentistry in the heart of Portland, ME, and his role as Editor in Chief of the American College of Prosthodontists' quarterly publication, The Messenger. He is also a member of Catapult Education's speakers bureau and evaluates new products for numerous dental manufacturers. When Dr. Cone is not at the chair, in the classroom teaching, or at the lab bench, he can be found lecturing on the international circuit and publishing extensively in peer-reviewed journals.

He has given more than 500 lectures in 30 countries, maintains a private practice in Mexico City limited to prosthodontics and implants, serves as an instructor in Spear Seminars, frequently contributes to Spear Digest, and develops numerous lessons for Spear Online. A member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the International College of Dentistry, Dr. Mitrani also serves on the editorial boards of numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry and the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry. He holds academic affiliation at the National University of Mexico and serves as affiliate associate professor at the University of Washington. Dr. Mitrani received his D.D.S. degree from the UNITEC University of Mexico City. He then obtained a certificate in prosthodontics and M.S.D. in dentistry from the University of Washington, where he served as the graduate prosthodontics program's assistant director in 2001.

As one of the founding members of Spear, he directed Curriculum and Clinical Education for nearly a decade prior to joining in the launch of Spear Practice Solutions. Today, he splits time between teaching and consulting. Dr. DeWood serves as an instructor in multiple Spear Workshops, including Facially Generated Treatment Planning, Occlusion in Clinical Practice, Advanced Occlusion, Sleep Medicine in the Dental Practice and a special focus workshop on temporomandibular disorder. He also maintains a limited private practice on the Spear Campus in Scottsdale, Arizona, and lectures nationally and internationally on practice management, treatment planning, case management, case acceptance, TMD diagnosis, appliance therapy, occlusion, and esthetics. Prior to his contributions at Spear, Dr. DeWood maintained a private restorative general practice with his wife and fellow Spear Resident Faculty member, Dr. Cheryl DeWood, in Pemberville, Ohio, before dedicating most of his time to teaching full time. With 40 years in general dentistry, he provides a unique perspective to the application of the dental principles taught at Spear. He has spent years focused on diagnosing and treating functional occlusal problems and TMD, and as part of that focus completed the craniofacial pain mini-residency at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in the early 1990s. Dr. DeWood served as clinical director at The Pankey Institute from 2003 to 2008. He has held appointments as associate professor at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and assistant professor at the University of Toledo College of Medicine. He earned his D.D.S. from Case Western Reserve University in 1980 and an M.S. degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Toledo College of Medicine in 2004.
