Kathy Caprino spent 18 years in corporate life. In the beginning, she found this career path exciting and rewarding, but as Kathy approached age 40, things began to change. She felt outwardly very "successful," but inwardly she struggled deeply... Kathy's work began to feel false and inauthentic much of the time, and work-life balance was unattainable for her. She couldn't speak up truthfully or be her true self. She got sick frequently, was exhausted and drained much of the time, and she didn't feel like her work was making positive and meaningful contributions. After a brutal layoff in the days following the events of 9/11, Kathy made a decision to reclaim her life, earning a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, becoming a therapist and eventually a "Finding Brave" expert, career and executive coach, writer, speaker, and leadership trainer dedicated to the advancement of professional women. Juana Bordas emigrated to the U.S. from Nicaragua on a banana boat when she was four. The youngest daughter in a family of eight, she was the first to go to college. She learned leadership from her hard-working parents especially her mother, Maria, who cooked food and scrubbed floors in the school lunchroom. Their vision, determination, and sacrifice taught Juana the very essence of Servant Leadership. These early experiences provided Juana with a deep desire to give back, to positively contribute to society, and to support other Latinas.
