For this episode, we wanted to reach out to pastors who have navigated their way through this pandemic and found ways to continue serving their church. In episode 114 we are honored to have Pastor Jeremy DeWeerdt who is the lead pastor, along with his wife Jen, of City First Church in Rockford, IL. On April 2, they gave away 43,000 lbs. of food and supplies to their local community in need with a partnership with Convoy of Hope. And on April 7, they opened up their facility to other local pastors who needed a way to record their Easter sermons for online streaming When crisis comes, it unifies. Jesus himself said, "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:35 Right now, the world's response to Coronavirus is to isolate, be fearful, and to hoard. We as the Kingdom of God are called to respond the exact opposite. To unite together, have faith, and to continue to be generous. Choosing Worship with Chris Llewellyn from Rend Collective
In episode 112 we are honored to be joined by Chris Llewellyn from Rend Collective of Northern Ireland to talk about the importance of choosing to worship despite our circumstance. We recorded this episode a few days before the Coronavirus hit the United States hard, and since then, our entire world has changed. Despite what we didn't know, this episode comes at exactly the right time. With millions of people unemployed and hundreds of thousands infected and dying, now more than ever, we need to worship. "Life is hard. Worship will not always or even usually be our default setting...but like a pilot encountering dangerous landing conditions, when these storms gather over us we have to switch off autopilot, wrestle back the controls and manually, intentionally choose worship. Because God is still worthy in the valley. He is good when life is not. And that's the anchor of our souls." -Chris Llewellyn from Rend Collective Don't miss this powerful episode as we unpack what it takes to worship in the valley, and talk about the heart behind their new album, "Choose to Worship" out now! "This album is an invitation into the spiritual discipline that we have been living as a community of building altars of praise in the darkness, trusting that whether or not the dawn comes, worship is still our sacred duty - and privilege. We hope this album gives you a vocabulary so that you can sing from the shackles, lift an anthem of defiance against your circumstances, and raise a shout of joy that demoralizes the enemy in his attempts to silence you. We hope that nothing will ever steal your song. We hope that you will join us in choosing worship." -Rend Collective If you like what you hear, please leave us a review! Sound Teams vs. Worship Leaders: 3 Ways Sound Teams Influence Their Church's Worship Culture
If you're a "production guy" involved in a church, it's crucial that you understand that before anything else, you are a worship leader. You have the power to set the tone before anyone else walks in - the power to freak out or sing out - the power to curate a safe, healthy, vulnerable, freeing environment for people to pursue presence over presentation - or the opposite - cynical, stressful, "I'm in charge" "hate the musicians" atmosphere that breeds contempt and lifeless church environments with quick turnover and a lonely life. It's entirely up to you. In episode 108, Brenton Miles shares his experience running sound in and out of the church, and what more sound teams can be doing to empower their worship team. The console is just another instrument, and the band and production crew are ALL the "worship team." Don't miss this powerful episode made specifically for anyone involved in church production! We hope this episode brings encouragement and practical tips to strengthen your worship teams. Listen in and share! --- If you like what you hear, please leave us a review! Finding Your Voice with Leanna Crawford
How do you find your voice as a worship leader? This week we are joined by artist and songwriter, Leanna Crawford to talk about finding your sound. Leanna Crawford is an incredible vocalist and songwriter out of Nashville and tours regularly with artists such as Michael W. Smith, Matthew West, Jeremy Camp, Tenth Avenue North, and Matt Maher. Her passion is to serve young women who struggle with self-doubt and insecurity through music that empowers them. In episode 106, Leanna shares her story about what it took for her to find her voice and pursue her calling. It's our constant downfall as humans to compare ourselves to others. But here's the thing... there will always be someone out there who's better than you and that's OKAY. Because comparison is the number one thing you can do to prevent owning who you are. Perfection is a religious mindset and an unreachable goal. The pursuit of perfection only leads to disappointment but the pursuit of a relationship with God brings life. No matter your situation, your skill, where you live, none of that matters because you have a voice inside you that the enemy will never stop trying to hide. Don't miss this incredible episode on HOW TO FIND YOUR VOICE. Listen now! And be sure to check out her latest single, "Funeral" out now! --- If you like what you hear, please leave us a review!
