Jules & Andy: Manchester United’s struggles, a case for David Luiz’s defence, and promising signs at Everton

What’s going wrong at Manchester United? That’s our first question on today’s episode of Jules & Andy, as we cast a reflective eye over Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s time in charge. Despite some promising young signings in the summer, they still seem to be lacking in key areas further up the pitch. Can they turn it around? Or is Solskjær’s time running out?Later on, Andy makes a case for the defence in the recent public trial of Arsenal signing David Luiz. Then, we discuss whether Everton’s impressive roster of individuals can become a cohesive and consistent unit, and step up to the mantle when challenging for the Top 6.Get in touch via our email: julesandandy@footballrambledaily.com or tweet us: @FootballRamble @andybrassell @julesbreach***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. The Ramble: Spoils even in North London, nervous Chelsea, and a cracker at Goodison

An exhilarating North London Derby at the Emirates headlined a great weekend of football and we take a fond look back over starring roles from Granit Xhaka and Harry Kane, the pros and cons of Chelsea’s wobbly start to the season and Everton and Wolves playing out a humdinger of a ding dong.Segueing neatly on we also look at Swansea’s rout(ledge) of Leeds, a Sebastien Coates disaster-class and Eric Cantona’s latest role. This is the synopsis of the podcast. The Blizzard: Brazil 0-1 France, 2006

For our latest episode of Greatest Games, we’re joined by football writer and broadcaster Tom Williams as we take a deeper look at the 2006 World Cup quarter-final between Brazil and France. This match, despite being awash with some of the greatest players in history, was completely dominated by the balletic and utterly irresistible Zinedine Zidane. After two poor seasons with Real Madrid, many—Zidane included—felt his star was on the wane. So pervasive was this sentiment, that he announced his retirement ahead of this tournament. What followed however, against Spain in the Round of 16 and against Brazil, was a final glimpse of Zidane at his best in all his former glory. This Joga Bonito-inspired Brazil side, featuring some of the nation’s greatest attacking talent ever, could do nothing in response. Zidane left his mark on this game in broad, beautiful strokes and cemented himself as one of the greatest midfielders football has ever seen. For more stories from the annals of football history, visit www.theblizzard.co.uk to explore their archives that contain over 700 articles of stories just like this one!Fancy getting in touch? The Ramble: Roy’s boys shock Man United, Arsenal fall short at Anfield, and Steve Bruce HITS BACK

A bad result for the now notoriously “not that good” Man United gets us underway as we look back at the weekend’s action, giving Marcus many opportunities to pronounce “Solskjaer” in that way that he does. There’s way more than that though. We’ve got your Biblical Chelsea. We’ve got your Steve Bruce watching the cricket. We’ve got your Antoine Griezmann lobbing glitter about. We’ve got your Dean Gaffney and your Beppe Di Marco getting kicked out at Norwich. We’ve got your Fulham encroaching on the Thames. The Blizzard: Blackpool 4-3 Bolton, 1953

For our latest episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, we’re looking back at that thrilling 1953 FA Cup final contested by Blackpool and Bolton: ‘The Stanley Matthews Final’. Joining us is Seb Stafford-Bloor, a writer for Football365 and Four Four Two magazine, as well as a content editor of Tifo Football. This final was a hugely significant moment in British football history. As it was the first final to be broadcast live on the BBC, the match was watched by a huge, unprecedented audience from all over the country. It also took place around the time that football was just beginning to be considered as the true ‘game of the people’ and still remains the only final where a hat-trick was scored. Seb, Jonathan and Marcus sit down and recount the rudimentary tactics and goalkeeping errors that led this match to be one of the most thrilling cup finals ever played. For more stories from the annals of football history, visit www.theblizzard.co.uk to explore their archives that contain over 700 articles of stories just like this one!Fancy getting in touch?
