Episode 55: Mycroft AI Interview, M1 Macs and More!
Welcome back to Linux For Everyone, welcome /Home, and get ready for our longest episode ever! We kick things off with some outstanding job news from Schykle, then Jerry tells a horror story about his phone eavesdropping on his friends. We also catch up on our individual privacy journeys that kicked off in Episode 54.
After that, Jerry drives the Software Spotlight by expressing his love for the ridiculously useful media tool Rapid Photo Downloader.
The middle section of the show is highlighted by an illuminating interview with Mycroft AI founder Joshua Montgomery, that reaches into Mycroft's roots and its potential. Joshua also argues for privacy initiatives like the right to be forgotten, as well as the "corporate death penalty." But he also offers hope for the future of smart speakers and virtual assistants.
We're even treated to the first "public" reading of his new children's book!
In the back half, Schykle and Jason launch the new "Tech For Everyone" segment by discussing their shared love of the Apple M1 systems, Asahi Linux, setting up a Time Machine server on Fedora, and a related chat about the Linux and Apple software ecosystems.
Kick back, grab your favorite beverage, and let's dive in to this monster!
